@binkybarnes, think I spotted Dessie Farrell as part of Dublin backroom team on Sunday. What’s his role? And who was runner replacement for Greg Kennedy? He was a chap with a hand deformity (is that an acceptable way to describe it?)

Mickey McCullough who is affectionately known as Mickey “Wing” is the Maor Foirne. He is from Antrim originally and coached Ballyboden last year. Apparently he was a decent hurler in his day disabled hand and all. Dessie has been in there since January. He is some sort of performance coach/selector. He was a decent hurler in his day and played Minor and u21 for Dublin. I remember him and Adrian Ronan both getting straight reds for thumping the heads off each other in a Leinster u21 semi back around 1992.

Dessie was a very good hockey player as well for St Brendan’s.

The game between tipp and Clare is huge for Limerick imo. If tipp win the stars sort of align for limerick to qualify. We’d face Clare in a knockout game for us but not them(ideal at home) and then an already qualified tipp for a place in the top 3. In this scenario Clare would play cork in the final round for a place in the last 3. Tipp 7, limerick 5, clare 4, cork 4 and Waterford 0 will be the final table hopefully. If we beat Waterford and tipp take care of Clare I think Limerick qualify. That’s presuming everybody takes care of Waterford.

The key is for Waterford to lose every game and tipp win their next one v Clare. There’s only 6 games left in the championship. If Waterford lose both their games that leaves four games to predict. The huge hinge result is tipp beating Clare. That leaves 3 games. 2 involving limerick. One a knockout a game v Clare at home(not knockout for Clare) and we’d face tipp in a dead rubber game for them. That leaves cork v Clare in ennis as a proper knockout game.

I think they are at odds with management, and look directionless, but have too many good players and are nowhere near as bad as they looked. Pride will kick in.
