All-Ireland Hurling Championship 2019***

Tom Walsh lost the use of one of his eyes in the 67 AI final. Not sure if it was Tony Wall but in any case, it was accidental and Tom Walsh said so himself all down the years but that never stopped us from throwing out the ‘tipp took the eye’ line any chance we got.

Was it genuinely an accident ? Or did he hit him and it was a result of the belt without meaning to take his eye out ? Thanks.

I think the latter and the swing might not even have been on Tom Walsh, he was just in the wrong place at the wrong time but whatever it was it was unintentional, no malice etc. I saw and heard Tom Walsh interviewed about it before and he never even hinted at it being anything other than accidental.

Lots of rumors doing the rounds like that.

I understand Pauric Mahony is getting a 2 match ban for his sending off.

Gaa do time bans as opposed to matches don’t they
2 matches would extend to next year

Changed a few years ago, matches now

So he’ll miss first match next year?

If he actually got suspended for two matches, yes. One of our lads missed the first game of this year’s championship because of a suspension from the last year

Yep it’s the same in club games. Straight reds carry on into the following year.

The incident was a tragic accident. Happened at a sideline cut right at the end of the 1967 AIF.

Yeah without an appeal he will miss the first league game next year or the Kerry game this year.

Talk is that Shanagher to start at full forward with Conlon on the wing sunday

Touhy to Midfield? Cooney half forward and loftus half back id imagine. Worth a shot. If hanbury gets a ref (who is it actually?) who lets it flow he could do well
