Are we prisoners of language or do we make language our prison?
The thing with Kilkenny is, even though theyāre not the force of old, theyāre still very hard to shake off. Very committed, dogged, full of self belief, completely relentless. Sure you canāt bate tradition in that way.
Bit of both mate.
I agree pal. Language is a game and we are quite often trapped by the rules.
Idiots that we are.
Look, meeting the articulate stupid really is a trial. You have no appreciation of what is entailed by saying GAA intercounty games are āmore importantā than GAA club games. Not to grasp the entailment is moronic.
Spew on away. You got your intellectual gym, alas.
You no more believe in socialism than Bono believes in sound engineers.
Thank you.
As Wittgenstein said, all of lifeās great problemās are merely language problemsā¦ or something to that affect.
effect
I was waiting for itā¦
I see your pun went over foleys head.
i was just helpfully playing ball
It certainly is, luckily for you thereās no jury here
They are more important
Thatās a fact
It entails that inter-county games are more important than club games, which they are
Thereās no such a thing as an intellectual gym, pal, itās just one more meaningless buzzphrase you thought up to try and sound intelligent which just ends up making you look stupid
Funnily enough critics of U2 sometimes say that their sound was over dependent on sound engineers and a quick listen to any of their albums from 1984 to 1997 would confirm that sound engineering was a key part of their production
You havenāt a clue what I believe
Joe faylunn !!!
You truly are a moron. Quite a feat.
āThatās a factā
Do you want to tell us why?
Is rain more important than clouds?
Sid does not follow a gaa club so he is not qualified to comment.
Whatās even being argued here? Couple of lads trying to flex their intellectual prowess ā¦ an e- dick measuring contest.
Whatās even being argued here? Couple of lads trying to flex their intellectual prowess ā¦ an e- dick measuring contest.
What is being argued is whether intercounty games are āmore importantā than club games ā and how āimportanceā should be defined/construed.
A pretty important topic, all told.
Given that you so pride yourself on being a self styled āgrass rootsā man itās ironic that your little metaphor about rain is quite literally a top down one rather than a bottom up one
The importance of inter-county games versus club games is quite easily explained
Inter-county games draw much bigger crowds, draw higher viewing figures, generate more discussion and more money, have fiercer competition, and players put in far bigger preparation to play in them than they do for club games
That is a simple reality that a lot of people have a lot of trouble dealing with
If you want to debate the sociology of sport vis a vis community, thatās a totally different argument, and one which is irrelevant to the fact that inter-county games are more important than club games
The proof of the pudding is in the eating
