Yeāve gone mental again lads.
Na na na nana
On the up, Laois is on the up
Sid actually does follow a club, Liverpool. Doesnāt follow a gaa club though.
Laois is on the up!
That may have been the original discussion. It has segued quite horrendously, though.
As usual.
I think the recent ādebateā (I use inverted commas for a reason) about Dublin is ironic proof that inter-county games that matter more in the minds of GAA people.
The investment in Dublin, providing GPOs etc. to clubs, is the very definition of investment in club and community, in participation, in offering an attractive outlet to children to be fit aand healthy and develop friendships and life skills through that.
Itās actually the very definition of socialism in a sporting sense.
Yet instead of recognising that and applauding it, pretty much all weāve heard from outside Dublin is that this money is financially doping the Dublin football team - when it plainly isnāt. These whingers show no recognition of the challenges of keeping urban clubs going in an environment where financially strapped and time strapped parents and volunteers are hard to get involved, no recognition that such an investment in grass roots GAA in the countryās only large city is a very good thing.
Just a broad brush application of the imagined norms of āould sodā ārooral Irelandā to a city of a million people, and a constant stream of whinging that the Dublin footballers are winning All-Irelands.
In terms of what the ethos of the GAA at its most grass roots level was designed to achieve, you could barely get a more spectacular missing of the point from these whingers.
Thereās quite a bit of nuance involved in this point, so I wonāt expect anybody with a chip on their shoulder to get it.
Ah the end of the day sid you donāt follow a club gaa team so hard for you to have an opinion.
So now we have it: intercounty games generate more revenue.
All the huffing and puffing about childrenās dreams and the āfactā corkscrews to money. The price of everything and the value of nothingā¦
There are lads I trained U14 now hurling intercounty. The feeling of satisfaction, both sides of the equation, would be lost on the likes of you.
I doubt the Christ ring final between Meath and down would generate as much discussion as a hurling county final in Kilkenny, tipp etc.
Fuck Tipp
Iāve massive respect for Tipperary.
I donāt
Then fuck you too
I had to look twice thereā¦
Not a fucking peep over here either. I might head for a few quiet ones tomorrow night and try and get gauge the mood. The only thing I heard was that they were happier to go to Croker rather than Thurles. They reckon they left it behind them in the Leinster final and only for the few brain farts the last 5 minutes, they would have got a draw at least.
We are Laois. This means more
Jesus Iāve a pain in my head after reading through the last 100 posts here
Maybe you need glasses.
