Look, if youāre at that craic you need to at least try a leg
My inamona informant assured me last week that the younger mccarthy would start for clare
Could we have that in English mate?
Serious hurling men here.
You are the English mate round here
Iām an Irish entrepreneur mate.
Worms?
No just fit
Iāve no respect for him as a person but bar Canning it has to be said Glennon was our liveliest forward all League. Is that a good thing? Absofuckinglutely not.
The Tipp lads will be salivating looking at that Cork team.
Glennon has his limitations but gives 110%, gets on a lot of ball and wins frees. Thereās a few others in that forward line that need to step up a notch from their form earlier this year.
Glennon is an oddball whoās track record alone means he should not be representing the county. He is a flat track bully who goes absent in a tight game. Iād have any grafter in galway in ahead of him. Is āshowing for the ballā now sufficient in the forward line for galway? He only does this for the first ten minutes in any case.
He could be canice canning, and I wouldnāt have him on the panel, but he has wasted his talent. He gave an absolute tour de France in the second half of the '09 minor final. I remember sitting there, proud as punch, thinking āwhoās your man in the red helmet?ā. He hasnāt had a good full game since.
PS the best of luck to you all @ciarancareyshurlingarmy
Iād really like and hope to catch up later in the summer
Yes, standing up and showing for the ball is a minimum requirement from a forward these days. He has earned his place based on his league performances, unless we revert to typical Galway of your name gets you a place on the starting 15. Let those who you deem better replace him, but based on performance not on name recognition.
The amount of draws makes little difference to the amount of points you need to qualify. It does in soccer where three points are given for a win and thereās only two total points for a draw.
Take the following scenarios if all other scores had stayed the same
If Limerick lost to Cork last year, then they would have 4 points = qualify
If Clare lost to Limerick, Cork, or Waterford, then they would have 4 points = qualify
If Clare had lost to Tipp then they would have 4 points = wouldnāt qualify
If Cork lost to Waterford or Clare, then they would have 4 points = qualify
If Tipp beat Limerick or Clare, then they would have 4 points = qualify
They are all the games listed where the change in result in just one of the ten matches would have taken a team to 4 points.
We have a management team who are loth to cast the net. Itās well known in galway hurling that youāre either in the system or youāre not, and will barely be given a thought. Until the likes of Colin Hanbury get even looked at, the status quo clearly remains. Galways league form was poor throughout really. Glennon has had chance after chance after chance and in reality is just a (hugely) poor manās damian Hayes. Heās done nothing of note in any game of significance, and heās a thug.
How can anyone put themselves forward who isnāt given a run at it?
Ask yourself this, how many of the intermediate or junior team of the year names were even given a chance.
Just had a look there, it seems in 4.5 league games against Mccarthy Cup opposition he scored 4 points, that includes being held scoreless against tomorrowās opposition. He might look busy, he might win an occasional free (and celebrate it wildly) but if you are averaging less than 1 point per game from corner forward you are very lucky to be holding onto the jersey. I wish him well as I do anyone who wears the jersey but Iād have serious doubts about him being up to the standard needed, and to be saying that nearly a decade after his debut says alot.
People would have said that he had a more impressive league than the likes of Conor Whelan & Niall Burke; I know that theyāre starting too and I realise that they have a bit more credit in the bank than Glennon but to be fair to him, he was given a chance and did better than many of the others.
Iām not sure of all the others who were tried in the league, I remember hearing Bleahane scored a couple of points against Dublin but heās been dropped off the panel since. Thomas Monahan seems to have gone off the radar altogether. Tadhg Haran, like Glennon, has been around a while at this stage. Maybe he should have tried others but the argument would be that Glennon has shown more form than some of the others starting.
He goes missing against any team of note in any game of note, and heās a prick.
But heās a gambling addict, so itās all good.
