Overall itâs great to see cork beaten.
Fuck Tipp
Very impressive from Tipp. Beat Waterford next week and thatâs them as good as through.
Brendan Maher was brilliant. Bubbles too obviously.
Cork very disappointing, serious vulnerabilities in that back six. Tipp much shrewder on the line. Meyler doesnât seem the most tactically astute.
I think people underestimate how tough it is to play fresh. Cork will improve a lot. They canât be as bad on the sideline again either. Puckouts were a disaster.
A junior b side would score 2-28 handy against that Cork defense, theyâve been shit for years and itâs worse theyâre getting
Tipp mojo is back. Compared to this round last years when they started a second team v limerick thinking it would be easy. Clare made hard work of it but looked ok. Limerick will be thanking the stars they whipped an all ireland when they did?
Were tipp not hurling fresh as well!!
The home advantage theory took a fair dent today.
Tipp were very very good, Cork looked off the pace hurling wise quite a lot, poor handling and control etc, puck outs just not right, hard to know, Horgan is incredible, itâs have been a cricket core without him
The ref seemed to make a few strange decisions late on, wouldnât have changed the result
I know that @anon78624367 isnât an I told you so merchant
Timmy had a few moments but he was a disaster for much of the game, I really didnât see that coming, if he was cleaned it wasnât as youâd have expected, positionally he seemed good, the ball kept bouncing off him
He isnât a centre back mate. Theyâre going to have to rejig it. Cahalane full back and Cadogan 6. Mahoney 11 as theyâve fuck all ball winners in the half forward line.
Cahalane is as bad a full back as thereâs been in inter county hurling in the past 30 years
Tipp did very well at shutting off the Cork puckout, which is key to how they play. Hard to tell how exactly they did it from TV, without being there, but they forced Cork to lump a lot of high ball on top of the Mahers and must have been stopping the runs somehow. Itâs no surprise that the Cork backs arenât great but they normally move the ball much better than that and it makes up for it.
Kearney & Meade werenât prominent at all, surprisingly, Fitzgibbon was also very very quiet. Against a midfield of McGrath & Breen, Iâd have expected Cork to be on top. (Breen was fairly quiet too). I suppose you canât underestimate how big a loss Cooper is, he brings a lot of physicality & grunt to the middle third.
Whatâs the story with cooper and cadogan? Will they be back.
Theyâll have to get a paw into the half forward line youâd imagine.
This result makes Cork more dangerous next week
Even if Cork & Waterford both lost next week, 4 points could still be enough to see them through in 3rd place if they were to beat another team level on 4 points. For example, Cork travel to Ennis in the last round⌠if Cork beat Waterford they could still be withing touching distance if Clare have lost any game before that.
As it was in the beginning and ever shall be, pal.
It makes them more desperate anyway. Theyâve a lot to fix. They canât rain ball down on Limericks half back line. Joyce taken off today. Mahoney and Coleman poor. The full back line were bate.
Theyâve a lot to make up for
Cooper was a massive loss. Meant Kearney and Fitzgibbon played much deeper than suited either. Meade, Coleman, Fitzgibbon all pretty anonomous around the middle and Kearney had nothing like his usual impact. Poor show but Tipp looked great, fit and hungry on top of huge skill levels
Cork havenât the panel and havenât addressed it during the league.
