KK brought that game to its simplest terms and made it an absolute dogfight. If they can set the terms of engagement there, then they have a good chance always.
There was nothing creative in an attacking sense about KK. A foundation of sheer hard work. Scores mainly coming from frees or turnovers or long range efforts. No cohesive play led to a score bar the last two when Galway had fully thrown in the towel.
Its a risky plan and they hung in there. Galways misses in front of goals gave oxygen to the KK cause.

Spot on. If your gonna wrestle an alligator at least avoid doing it in the swamp. Lorrying ball in ffs. KK backs learn to deal with that aged ten

At the business end, is that not it all boils down to? Workrate, and decision making with skill execution under huge pressure. You literally get no time on the ball at the business end of the championship. Systems and structures go out the window for the most part. Matches are like a cup final.
Kilkenny were totally narrow in front of Whelan. There must have been acres on the wings

They offered them the wings. It was like the 2006 aif at stages there today. Cody must be laughing a tactic Henry knew well and couldnāt deal with it.
Whelan is not the same as he was before the hamstring. Sheflin should have done lije Kiely did with Lynch and leave him rest up until properly needed
They dont have that luxury to be fair.
Yes, however added on top is a strategy on ball and an attacking set up. Kk just lorried ball down on Keoghan and Cody. They did not get one good ball into them. However the two lads harried all day. Contrast that to how other teams play. Lk have a clear attacking plan, Cahill had with Waterford until it unfurled, Kingston has one with Cork.
Kk had nothing there today only pure work.

The theatrics at the end were unseemly.
Shefflin trying to ingratiate himself with every Kilkenny player was over the top and unnecessary. You are in the Galway camp now. He seemed a bit frazzled and rabbit in the headlights and body language of arms folded just makes him look quite vulnerable and weak. Cody on the other hand had the demeanour of a Fr Fintan Stack played by Brendan Grace in Father Ted swashbuckling about the place. Like fuck would I have walked over to shake hands with him.

Whelan was fine. It was the likes of Monoghan and Concannon you might hope would show something. They showed absolutly nothing. Joe Cooney, Cathal Mannion Conor Cooney less still. You know your in serious trouble when its Jason Flynn your bringing on to save the day
Coen didnt do a whole pile either. You could count on one hand how many Galway players would earn a 6 out of 10 or higher rating.
Cody knew
We knew
Shefflin knew
He had to come
The reality is Galway are equally likely to be unreal the next day. They could horse Cork out of it playing that way. They just couldnāt out kilkenny, kilkenny. Why they even tried is a mystery really
Limerick are dominant because they do all of the above better than anyone. They are the best coached team which means they make better decisions and execute better than anyone else.
They definitely have a system but their ability to do above affords them more time than other teams.
Ive no doubt that Galway had a plan/system going out tonight but they could not execute it due to pressure. Limerick can.

At the end of the day, the Kilkenny boys were more afraid of letting Cody down than Galway were of Shefflin.

When was the last time Galway have a high quality performance?
2018 Leinster final replay maybe. They are very much at a crossroads
