Tipp were the better team yesterday, have the better players and played a more attractive style of hurling. In saying that KK should’ve closed it out in the last 10 minutes. The tactic of lumping high ball down on the full forward line paid dividends for KK but they don’t have the pace (Colin Fennelly aside) to stretch Tipp out wide. If Tipp can get to grips with the high ball the next day they’ll seriously restrict KK’s scoring potential.
KK were also seriously exposed in the HB line yesterday and it put a lot of pressure on the full-backs. Brian Hogan was very poor and Holden wasn’t in the game at all. I think Buckley will develop into a very good player but his touch and decision making was atrocious at times yesterday.
Tyrrell and Delaney were run ragged in the last 15 minutes.
I expect that Colm Lyons of Cork will be appointed to referee the replay.
It’s between himself, Brian Gavin and McAllister. James McGrath won’t get it again, Alan Kelly hasn’t a chance, KK won’t want McAllister (dropped from the elite panel a couple of years ago at their behest.)
Barry Kelly did the draw, Johnny Ryan is from Tipp and James Owens is an utter cretin.
Lyons or Gavin I reckon.

Bonner Maher’s injury must have been affecting him, he had Hogan under pressure before being moved in. He had some battle with Paul Murphy.
Barry Kelly had an excellent match.
He destroyed Hogan for a period in the 2nd half where Tipp were walking through the KK defence. I honestly feared a repeat of 2010 at that stage. It was real tit for tat with Murphy, great to watch

Is there any reason it has to be a different ref? Kelly did a good job, why don’t they just give it to him again? This would ensure greater consistency in the style of refereeing over the two games too.
Ritchie Power had James Barry in bother all through. Thought Eoin Larkin was going to destroy Kieran Bergin in the 1st 10 minutes but he recovered somewhat in the second half.
Cathal Barrett was immense, only a slip of a lad but teak tough.
Fucking hell.
Both equally great I would say, though the hurling for about twenty minutes of the second half yesterday was epic. Loved both games, couldn’t separate them.

Saw him play Minor as a 15/16 year old, he had everything even then. Looked like a lad who enjoyed a can if coke and a bag of chips though.
@Mullach Ide, it was Paddy Stapleton that couldn’t cope with Richie Power.
Paul Murphy was on Bonner Maher for practically the entire game, was he not? Tipperary caught Kilkenny by surprise early doors when O’Dwyer went in corner forward and they didn’t know whether Holden should follow him inside or not as Murphy was designated to mark Maher. Pretty sure Maher caught the balls above Murphy’s head for his first half goal and the second half Eoin Murphy save. Did he have a spell on Brian Hogan at centre forward too?
@carryharry, have you realised it was a good game (not a great game) on second viewing?

I think Maher was on Hogan when he got the run on him for the the goals & penalty. Murphy went on him after that.
Pretty sure you’re incorrect.

Agreed, Hogan pretty much got a free pass once Bonner was switched into the corner. EOS needs to exploit Hogan next day out.
Pretty sure you are
Hawkeye man of the match. Made up for the balls up in the minor semi last year by giving Bubbles as a miss.
I’ll watch it again so.
