All Ireland Senior Football Championship 2014
New York vs Mayo gets us under way tonight.

Mayo by 25+ for me
Awful prediction in fairness

An initial scan has revealed that Monaghan sharpshooter Conor McManus has sustained ‘severe’ knee and ankle ligament damage.

The All Star is in danger of missing the entire championship after suffering the double injury blow following a heavy collision with another All Star, Tommy Freeman, during last Friday night’s club game between Clontibret and Magheracloone.

Monaghan manager Malachy O’Rourke has expressed the hope that his star forward will be able to play some part in the county’s Ulster SFC defence.

“We are hoping that it would not be just conclusive yet and we would be hoping that it would not be cruciate or anything like that, but he has done fairly severe damage to both the knee and the ankle,” O’Rourke explained to the Irish News.

“It is a bad blow for Conor personally and for the team. He would obviously be a huge loss for Monaghan.”

Game over Monaghan. Game over.

Anyone got a list of the live games RTÉ and Sky are showing ?

6 to 8 week recovery period. Has got off reasonably lightly if so.

6-8 weeks wouldn’t be awfully “severe” as Totti’s initial post said. Could kibosh Ulster mind you.

Predictions :

Leinster - Dublin
Connacht - Mayo
Ulster - Tyrone
Munster - Cork
All Ireland - Dublin

You’ve just described the most uninteresting All Ireland in years. Sadly you’re most likely correct.

Great news for Monaghan. Will keep him out of the quarter against either Down or Tyrone but he should be around for them to have a tilt at the AI.

More fixtures will follow after the earlier rounds of the Championship have been played.

Sky Sports have also confirmed the four games they will show in June, starting with the meeting of Kilkenny and Offaly in the Leinster SHC on June 7th. This is followed by the clash of Dublin and Wexford/Qualifier in the Leinster SHC on June 14th.

They will also televise Sligo against Galway/London in the Connacht SFC on June 21st and the Ulster semi-final between Armagh/Cavan and Down/Tyrone/Monaghan on June 28th.

Anyone have the BBC schedule?

Looks like the Armagh-Cavan game won’t be televised. Surely a much better option to televise that than Mayo hockeying Roscommon/Leitrim or Dublin hockeying Laois/Wicklow?

No, only have the population of nordie counties are potential viewers so it makes sense to show big Gaelic counties like Mayo and Dublin.

Plus imagine how awful Armagh-Cavan will actually be.

The Ulster Championship is the only provincial championship with an air of unpredictability and quality about it. Mayo will win Connacht, Dublin will win Leinster and Kerry will win Munster. There are 7 teams in the hunt for Ulster.

Former Irish and Connacht rugby player joining the Mayo football team. To beat the dubs Mayo bringing are in a ringer!

Whats this?

Gavin Duffy training with Mayo after retiring from Connacht.

I read that since I asked. Seems he wasn’t offered a contract rather than retired.

They’ve a handy 15 signed to replace him.

I heard that. Some lad who played a bit of ball out foreign.

A damn fine minor but this seems bizarre all the same.
