They tried to take too much out of the ball, everytime they got it they tried to slow the play down thus making it harder to get scores on the board, they did this far too early.

In reality, Dublin dominated 90% of the game. The brainfarts before half-time gave Kerry a huge lift, but Dublin were vastly superior in general.
