They got a good crowd for the match against Kerry last year on the crest of the U21’s and were poor.
It will always be a hurling county, two of the football panel chose hurling including a lad on a football scholarship in DCU.
I support both codes but it’s a bit rich you coming on here calling any county’s supporters out when hurling is treated with the same contempt in the county you support.
The fact is that Munster is hurling country. Football will always be the poor relation. Kerry barely travel to AI finals these days, never mind most non glamorous fixtures. The other five counties all have pockets of football strongholds but there’s maybe only a hardcore of a few hundred/couple of thousand who will follow them through thick and thin. Of course a bit of success and the bandwagon will gleefully be availed of. Limerick had about 20k at the Munster final in Killarney five or six years back. Normal service has resumed and getting maybe only a couple of hundred for league games now.
Cork’s support in football is especially piss poor considering their population.
Thought Donegal were decent yesterday, given the idiocy of McGee, and fought out the victory well.
The game plan is a bit limited though and relies so much on a quick transition from defence to attack that any decent team that opts to sit deep will cause them serious trouble. The Monaghan game should be very tight.
Ulster has been disappointing so far, not tight games in the quarter finals at all. It’ll be interesting to see how that beaten teams cope in the qualifiers as they’ve avoided each other in the draw.
