This is spot on, Callanan needs to lead his team to an AI to remove the asterisk fully.
I take your point he was a better wing back than full back. Scoring 2-5 from play in two finals and being labelled a bottler is ridiculous no matter who he was marking though
As I said I’ll change my opinion in light of new evidence but given he’s been a serial bottler I’m not sure he’ll change at this stage now.
no worries, i wasn’t having a go at you, but dj way under performed in his first few all ireland finals, before doing well in his last few, similar in a way to how callanan has gone i think, I’m not comparing them as players though. callanan is a brilliant full forward, but im not sure hed do much in the backs or midfield like joe canning did today.
Callanan is incdeibably skilful. I’m not questioning that. It’s his bottle and mental strength I’m questioning.
A lad from limerick talking about togs shitting and Croke Park, you literally could not make this up
This will be my last post in the matter but I’ll just put it out in terms of stats. Since 2014(anything before that is irrelevant to how good he is these days) he has played in three tight knockout games. In those games he scored 5 points, 2 goals and 3-4 from play, an average of 8 points from play per game. Unbelievable he’s still being labelled a bottler
Ive always been a critic of Callinan but he actually scored the most important winning point in modern chip history in the 2006 minor semi vs the cats, he has improved ten fold in the past three years
I would have done the same, but he fought a one man battle in last years semi, and anyone who got that amount of scores off JJ Delaney has to have some bottle. as stupid as this sounds, my opinion of him changed when I saw that picture of him with bits of his teeth flying out through the helmet against limerick i think, he shook it off and played on, and laughed it off after. thats mental strength.
The soft cunt only got a shoulder from @balbecs club keeper[quote=“maroonandwhite, post:3824, topic:21107, full:true”]

To be fair, the whole of the Tipperary team are set up to serve Seamus and that’s when he came good for Tipp, other players don’t have that luxury… And I’m not slating him.
its ridiculous, there isnt a better FF in the country ffs…
a funny looking shoulder!
Don’t be sucking up to the Tipp lads
Don’t engage with stupidity for your own sake.
Im just in a zen state of calm pal. beautiful weather here today. don’t worry the bile will resurface
I don’t mind comments like this at all, you are clearly correct, although in the semi last year his goals came from just route one hurling. I must say though not many lads have the pace and movement of Callanan. Canning for example wouldn’t be quick enough to be doing as much constant moving for the ball. Canning is a better overall hurler but Callanan a better full forward
a fair comment
galways deplorable record continues, 6 finals reached since 88 and they are still to beat a serious hurling team the year after losing one.
Have the Conquerors got the record out yet?
