There’s a difference between forwards and midfielders working back and having a lad permanently fixed in front of the full back line. Kilkenny have never done that as far as I can remember. Kilkenny also generally keep three men in their full forward line which helps them going forward.

Derek McGrath has been playing 2 sweepers with De La Salle since 2006 or 2007. Donegal didn’t implant that muck in his head.

What has that to do with ball winning forwards? Kilkenny begin with dominating midfield, the rest is much easier thereafter. Ever see when they play TJ and Hogan at MF with Fennelly?

Yeah absolutely, what Clare and Waterford do with a static sweeper makes a hero out of them and is dumb. KK play 2 “sweepers” between their WB’s though
Clare are short a few backs, although with everyone fit and a new manager they might scrape them together. Front 8 they have a lot of quality but haven’t clicked in quite a while.

Arguably this is the most talented bunch of players ye ever had, and this is the 3rd year in a row that Clare are out of the championship before August.
Waterford and Clare are two sides of the same coin. Both have sets of players that are unbelievably talented but both sets of players are slowly being suffocated by a system that will not allow them hurl to their strengths

I have been firmly in the Davy doesn’t know what he is doing camp for years, got excited in 13 but quickly shut up in 14 and haven’t been to a game since. That team is cooked

Complete failure in my opinion. Ye should be doing a lot better after winning the AI in 13.
On the plus side ye got out of 1B this spring whereas we’re stuck in deja vu mode next year.
