All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship 2016

He’s one could come decent for us long term. Great hand on him. We have a few like him who if they stay the course and get up to speed with the Cody system could keep us competitive over the next couple of years until Hogan and TJ start to wind down.

Was W Walshe even training with the seniors for much when he got that call up in replay v galway?

No, they picked him up out of a pub in Ballyragget the morning of the game.

good lad

Is he around?

Ya he’s been on the bench all year for them as far as I know. Think he guy a run in a few league games.

Walsh was a top class minor, one of the best I’ve seen. By all accounts, he’s continued that form into the intermediate grade. He’ll play senior for Kilkenny for sure. Whether he’ll be brought in for next week, that would be a bold move.

Who?

Oh yeah, he’s from Mullinavat too, I think. He’s been on the panel all year, was one of the subs on Sunday

He was terrific in the intermediate county final in 2014- he was everywhere, went hunting for the ball at every opportunity and took all the frees. He was still a minor then.
They played Balkyragget in that final who had three players on the KK senior squad and I had to look for them.

Conor Whelan 2015 did something similar

Serious player. Probably needs tome to get up to speed.

He loves hard work, and is a machine. He made football look ridiculously easy.

thats John Walsh she is talking about there. Mick didnt play in that final in 2014.

Ah right. Similar animals so.

Informative rating

I don’t know to be honest.

Just watched the game again there now, Waterford really turned the screw between the 45th and 65th minute. They destroyed Kilkenny in the physicality stakes but didn’t put enough scores on the board. This relentless workrate probably contributed to their sharp fall off in the last 5 minutes.

Kilkenny badly need to find another way to attack the Waterford defence. Not sure how you do it but I think they should target de Burca.

TJ Reid would’ve been taken off with 20 minutes to go if he wasn’t the free taker.

Kevin Moran (missed opportunities aside) was excellent for Waterford.

I can’t wait for saturday to see again in the flesh the effectiveness of Moran & Brick. Brock in particular is used so well by himself and management. He is literally now like a player from the 80’s who is there to “break up the play” or to “stop a good man hurling”. He is so eefective for a guy who i think would have been gone and forgotten in counties like Cork, Galway and Limerick. Clare would be much better with Brick.
