Iām not sure I follow you here mousey but I think itās clear that youāre not following me. The thrust of what Iām saying is Cork should not be handed these games just because theyāve completed their new stadium upgrade. They are no more entitled to it than say McHale Park (capacity 45k) GG (49k) Thurles(53k) and so on.
The precedent has been set now. When Casement Park is complete I the hope the ACB ensure the A I H quarter finals are played up there.
If Casement park goes ahead, Iād love to go up there for a hurling match. A Munster final even. Why not? The amount of nordies that come down for a Munster final.is impressive
Can you imagine it, it would be fantastic. The unionist community along with the nationalist would welcome us with open arms Iād say. Hopefully itāll happen in a few years time.
I plan on taking in both games if I can just get a junior football game fixed for Friday first, much happier to be going to Cork for the weekend rather than god-forsaken Thurles again
Guys, wasnāt it even flagged before @ChocolateMice 's exclusive that the quarter finals were earmarked for Cork? Iām pretty sure the national press were reporting it prior to the Leinster Final based on CCCC meeting briefings. Sure @briantinnion confidently booked his Cork accommodation before our match against Galway.
Whoās up in arms over it anyway? Are one particular county more annoyed than others or is it a general thing? Iām delighted with the venue choice and looking forward to it immensely. It beats that old, rackety piece of shit Semple Stadium and I donāt think any other available venue was big or hurlingy enough to deal with the crowd. Gracing the new PĆ”irc Ui Chaoimh on a showpiece weekend of hurling is brilliant.
And Kilkenny training sessions. They love Kilkenny training sessions.
Fact: My oulā fella bought two spare tickets for the 1994 Ulster football final between Down and Tyrone from a couple of chaps whoād come up from West Limerick to see it.
Clare fans seem to be most pissed off. I think itās the throw-in time more than anything else. Although 3 on a Saturday versus 2 on a Sunday, I would have thought itās much of a muchness. A Saturday evening game under the fancy new lights would have been nice though.
If Wexford people are annoyed at the prospect of meeting heavy Waterford traffic then they can scoot up to Portlaoise and back down to Cork that way. Itās only a bit of driving and I wouldnāt mind it at all if I was able to drive.
