Thatâs only because it has Clonea and Ring in near proximity
With the Ulster champions next in the semi final, Waterford as good as in their first final since winning their lone All Ireland U21 in 1992.
GAA Trivia Question - unusual feature of the drawn 1992 final - Waterford 4-4 Offaly 0-16?
Growler Daly got 3 goals that day and Paul Flynn came on and scored the other to draw it. I was at the game, great game.
Neither team had won it before?
Waterford to win the All Ireland u21.
Bold call
Both teams went on to win fuck all of relevance?
Leinster u21 championship needs a rethink. Maybe throw Antrim and Galway in it and not have the Leinster champions waiting five or so weeks for the final might help.
Do you never want a Leinster county to win a Leinster U21 again? Or even appear in the final?
Yes, neither Offaly or Waterford had won it before but that wasnât what I had in mind. Of Waterfordâs 4-4 in the drawn game, they scored all four points in the first half and no goals. In the second half they scored all four goals and no points. They were two terrific games both played in really awful conditions.
I donât remember the conditions being awful by any stretch
I was at both games as well. My recollection was 2nd half of replay in particular was played in heavy rain and wind.
Other thing I remember was Gowran playing in the curtain raiser of the Kilkenny Intermediate Final before one of the finals, not sure which one and DJ Carey giving an absolute exhibition.
Maybe your right, I just canât recall it being raining and I was sitting in the uncovered stand. I remember the minor final that year being played in awful conditions, rain and driving wind.
I remember that intermediate game too Gowran v Blacks & Whites I think it was and DJ gave an exhibition is right. Hard to believe thatâs nearly 25 years ago now!
Great to see young fellows showing a bit of excitement in winning. Not everyone can match Kilkenny levels of glumness in victory.
They were at this goading and sledging all night, bizarre carry on for young lads who havent had time to build up their hatred of Tipp yet.
If by some freak of nature these to teams meet in the senior final, that picture is enough to put up in the Tipp dressing room
Dont forget pal, John McGrath laughed. Waterford wonât forget it.
It makes me laugh these fuckers that complain about fellas goading - Stephen Bennett was probably getting raped and abused off the ball the whole game and the cameras only pick up when he scores and gives yer man the two fingers
Offaly have won as many All Irelands aa Tipp since 92 bud
