This is from my album of the year for 2015. Considering I listened to the heaviest of metal that I’ve listened to in years, the most mellow of the bunch is the one I keep coming back to. From the story about how they crowd-funded the album to the beautiful textures and soundscapes, the whole thing is mesmerising. In particular, the way this song builds to the peak at 5:50 is gorgeous. Simply gorgeous. I think I played this track 3 times in a row when I first heard it…
Also Australian - @Fitzy… keep an eye out
Arcane - Nightingale’s Weave
I’ll try pal bit i don’t listen to white music. I’m Sydney’s pre-eminent roaster wigger. Would that be ripster behaviour? Roasters listening to Dr Dre and Jay Z and constantly talking about Beyonce’s hole?
That’s pretty standard human behaviour regarding Beyonce’s hoop. If you like it, put a ring on it.
Will throw my best attempt at a classic rap tune up on the Smashing thread.
Is it fuck! Rancid were hounded by record companies waving lucrative deals to move from Epitaph in their faces. They declined all, and called their next album “And Out Come The Wolves”. Proper punk.

That’s great, metal isn’t my thing but I love some good punk, that song was a staple in the Sir Henry’s indie nights during the late 90s, classic.
Have you ever listened to the early Lemonheads records, I love their later stuff but have all those albums and I think they are as good as anything that was happening in pop punk at that time, I put up Luka because I thought it might persuade a few to listen.
D. Boon was a great musician and lyricist. I still think Double Nickels on the Dime is an under-appreciated classic. I could listen to Corona repeatedly and never get tired of that jangly little riff.

Kyuss - Thumb.
Nothing Josh Homme has done since has come close to this beast. A riff of epic proportions.

Is this the right thread to lay out this banger?

There was a big rivalry between them and Prong in the 90s. I really liked Helmet and loved jamming along to Milquetoast, but Tommy Victor wrote monstrous riffs.
I’m pretty sure I’ve posted Snap Your Fingers Snap Your Neck already, so here’s another beast. The pinch harmonics with vibratto and heavy distortion are sweet!

They’re also releasing a best-of (including 2 new tracks with guest appearances from Mick Jagger and James Hetfield), and will have a new line-up.
So long as they fucking hammer that uber cunt Hillary, I’m on board
There’s the fucking shit right there. 50 Million Year Trip was my own personal fave, an absolute banger with a beautiful coda. Would agree on your point re Homme as well. Saw John Garcia doing a Kyuss set in Dublin in 2010, the sound was unlike any other gig I’ve ever been at, just a big wall of bass flapping at you in waves.
