Annual Performance Reviews in work - the audit trail

Have my quarterly review and PDP assessment later this morning, tis some load of cock <_<

Tell them about the time you concatenated a few columns in excel

My outstanding prowess of all things Excel and Microsoft Works is listed as one of my skills

I don’t miss those days.

Being good at your job doesn’t come into it.

How some self important jobsworth (HR) thinks you have done though is critical.

It’s amazing really those that play the politics games well aren’t good team players and don’t share knowledge that much.

Also I’ve never understood the concept of bonuses. People only tend to concentrate on what they are bonused on naturally. Why not just give pay rises rather than bonuses that are taxable anyway?

What’s a PDP assessment?

Personal Development Plan

Are you a trainee accountant now Chewy?

Used to have that shite in my old place. Complete waste of time.

I am a trainee excel user

You obviously don’t get bonuses…

Are people in the private sector still getting bonuses?! A few quid at Christmas is all I’ve had thrown my way in the last while. The whole performance bonus got the road years ago. I had to fight hammer and tongs for a raise without falling out with the boss.

Yes bonuses are still part and parcel of the corporate world.

It would depend very much on what corporate sector you fall under. We can’t compare the likes of bankers with, let’s say, someone in construction industry, like an estimator.

I have to go into a one on one meeting in about 40 mins and slate someone. I’m dreading it.

Let them do the talking first. Invite them to assess themselves. Gives you something to work with.

My boss was about to give me my rating a few Weeks ago when I cut him short and handed in my notice.

The worst part is this person has a close family member who is gravely ill.

And I have to deliver some very bad feedback that could well result in them getting cut over the next few months.

FML.

I’m going in.

See you all on the other side.

Come on mate, grow a fucking pair.

Just be professional as you always are, Brian.

Perceptive comments by CLD earlier on this thread from a while back.

I’m out. 34 minutes of sensitive criticism dressed up as “points of improvement”. I’m going to hell.

Given this person’s work resulted in me having to work 80 - 90 hours a week for the last two months I should have been raging but the truth is I’m dead inside and incapable of feeling any emotions beyond mild happiness and depression.
