He might not be Troy Aikman, he might not be Joe Buck, he’s definitely not Cris Collingsworth (The Best on TV[sup]TM[/sup]) but that’s some excellent corporate advice from CLD right there.
good one, build up some allies as you will need each other and avoid female-loaded teams.
Being soft on that employee will only come back to haunt you Brian Tinnion. Unless they are culled anyway of course.
I wasn’t soft, they got the rating they deserved but the message was delivered in a sensitive way given the personal circumstances. It’s also a difficult legal path to go to town on someone and you need to take some time building a case that is rock solid as to why they not been performing.
This person was only on loan to my department anyway so won’t be working with them again.
I’m just glad to have that meeting out of the way and intend imbibing a few drinks this evening to mark the occasion.
If they didn’t get the message, the message wasn’t delivered Brian.
Should like you need to start taking drugs Brian. They should cheer you right up (for a while).
Small teams are dangerous. Small teams that contain mainly women are even more dangerous. Sad but true.
This probably works the other way too. But I’ll never know what it’s like to be a woman working in a small team full of men.
Queue tame jokes about:
- Me being a woman
- Rewording to “team full of small men”, leading to Runt jokes. Sorry mate. You fucking anecdotal midget.
Fair play to you Brian. Correct human response to the situation you were in.
Any chance the poor fcuker will be able to up it or is the illness completely swamping their life?
You need to work in place where nobody else understands your job or is in a position to criticise it.
Update: I went too easy on this person, they’ve disagreed with the rating now. I’ve had to come back with all :guns: blazing.
No more Mr. Nice Guy.
First time I’ve had to give really negative feedback in my life and to be honest it feels quite liberating to exhibit my honest feelings for once instead of bottling things up and turning things on myself.
Still quite stressful though, it’s only one person I’m giving feedback on, would not like to be doing this too often. I’m only interested in power if I can be their friend as well as their boss.
What’s worse? Cheating medical science or cheating friends?

You can’t be their friend. You need to be hard but fair. A bit like the time Blackadder was running the prison.
If they are only getting the bad feedback now, at he time of the PR then someone not doing their job. Why wait til now to tell them they are a useless cunt?

But another department lent this creature to Tinnion. It is obvious that the sender knew that he/she was a useless cunt.

Everyone knows that in anyline of work if one department is willing to lend out a person they are shit at their job.

That’s the issue, be careful not to confuse performance management with annual review. PM is ongoing and you need to think very carefully how you are delivering this bad news ESP of this is the first time the emplloyee will have been given the feedback .
We are indeed blesses to have so many great leaders of people posting in this forum.
I’d say yours are great craic
Well, did you pass the exams yet
Mmmmmmmmm
I see the performance reviews at Aviva didn’t go too well last week.
