Yes mate.

Its been a good year and signed up for another. The ‘home office’ will be getting an upgrade in the spring to keep next years profits at bay.

Yeah I pretty much have my one right now.
Docking station, 2 screens, IKEA office chair. Nice.

Yes… I was thinking of some flooring, some paintings and some decent storage furniture too.

I’d say a -4 at the moment Balbec. Printing is a very fucked up industry here at the moment, very, very difficult to win new business. The company I joined is pretty antiquated, though I’m working on a business development strategy which I will present to senior management in the coming weeks which will hopefully lead to some pretty radical change. Some senior people here have become very comfortable in their positions, spending most of their time protecting their own job instead of actually contributing anything. Amazes me how a company of 250 people can be so unsophisticated in terms of people development and strategy. No long term thinking about where we will be in 5 years.

Is there a boring post of the year award?

A company of 250 people and they are lazy. Get the fuck out of there. Only one way that place is heading

Don’t lose that legendary temper of yours with them.

Fitzy, if you are in the printing industry is be advising you to move elsewhere or retrain or that. Given the changes in it and computing it’s hard to see printing companies making any significant profits in coming years. As someone who works in the finance sector, everything appears to be going down the automated/system based route. Even for signoffs! You might be able to revert with a safe enough basis for staying in the job but the last place is invest in now long term is a printing co.

+1.

Sure the Swindon and Slough branches have even merged already.

In the words of Michael Scott “You know what else is facing five Goliaths? America. Al-Qaeda. Global warming. Sex predators. Mercury poisoning. So do we just give up?”

Q1 for 2013 coming up in 90 minutes or so. As it is a new role I don’t have any goals set yet on paper so should just be a relatively informal chit chat

Tell em about the printer issue and how you resolved that.

It’s top of my list of achievements

SOme keywords to be used in your meeting mate… hope it helps.

"accuracy, thoroughness, productivity, goal attainment

teamwork, cooperation, listening, persuasion, empathy

accessibility, responsiveness, decisiveness, collaboration, and delegating

knowledge base, training, mentoring, modeling, and researching

dedication, loyalty, reliability, flexibility, initiative, energy, and volunteering

diversity, sustainability, honesty, integrity, fairness, and professionalism"

Do we have a job interviews thread anywhere on TFK?

I’d like to share a few tips with forum members - in fact, we should all share knowledge and experience for the benefit of each other.

I believe there is a thread alright. Maybe it it is in the Work Motivation Thread, or possibly earlier in this thread, cluaindiuic posted up a load of stuff in it so he may be able to bump it

Attention to detail

It’s cryptically enough called “Job interviews”.

I bumped it there with a beauty of a post from the late, great KIBman.
