Arcade fire.. greatest band this century?

@Sidney what does Canice think of the new album, I heard he got an advance copy?

He told me he hasn’t listened to it yet but he hears it’s very good.

Surely he gave it a listen before he handed it back?

No. Canice would be very honest like that. Anyway himself and Matthew Ruth aren’t club mates, so he didn’t come into possession of the actual CD, but they’ve had some fierce battles against each other in the club championship and in A v B games.

Just reading a forum which informs me that the superb song “Normal Person” off the new record is Win railing about the creeps that follow rugby football:

I don’t want to know
If that’s what’s normal now
I don’t want to know…

It’s an album highlight for me.

You’re lucky you had the guardian to come along and tell you whether you liked it or not

My favourite track ogg the new album. Here’s a live version.

I do my own thing. I don’t need anyone to tell me what to like or what’s normal. I don’t want to know if that’s what’s normal now. I don’t want to know.

Post up the name of videos you’re posting too, you cunt.

FYI @Bandage, that one is called It’s Never Over (Hey Orpheus), it’s the first version of it that popped up on youtube but is not great quality wise. You cunt.

I really like the run from Here Comes The Night Time through Normal Person, You Already Know and Joan of Arc. Hard to narrow it down to one favourite. I’ll need another few listens.

Here Comes The Night Time II

Porno and Afterlife.

Did you feel dirty during it?

This is a good album.

Not sure about very good yet but its growing on me all the time.

A few of the songs are definitely growers. I’m still not sure about the album as a whole but I admire them for trying something different at least.

How they transfer these new songs into their live show will be interesting. I was bit underwhelmed with their last album too until I saw the songs live myself. Their last gig a few years ago in the O2 was class.

It was an excellent gig alright Phil. I’d imagine we’ll get to see them again in 2014. On the flip side I’m not at all enthused about going to see The National after having a good listen to their latest album.

The national are top quality. This website (@farmerinthecity in fact) turned me onto them back along. Very unique.

Have not listened to Arcade Fire yet.

And yet @farmerinthecity claims to have only listened to one of their albums…

He put up one of their songs anyway

They are a great band no doubt Kev but their latest album is not as good as it could have been I guess…
