AS Roma 2011/12

€12m fee and 5-year deal being mentioned. Let’s hope this is the first of many new signings to come. :clap:

Passarella has said it’s a done deal and Lamela said goodbye to the River Plate fans on twitter this morning. Better get following him Bandage.

Excellent. I’m friends with a River Plate supporter so will get the low down on Lamela over the next few days.

A slightly worrying quote from the legendary Prince of Rome today given the distinct lack of new player arrivals at Trigoria:

“I have still not seen any of the new owners, I only hope they are going about their work the right way.”

Carlos Kameni is set for a €2m move according to reports in Spain and Italy.

Sabitini has confirmed that a deal for Kameni is likely. Reports also circulating that Jose Angel will sign soon and we’ve been linked with a €10m move for Pablo Zabaleta. Mancini rates him so I don’t see much of a foundation in that one.

Luis Enrique, earlier today.

Luis Enrique held his first Roma training session today. “Francesco Totti is unique. My philosophy is very attacking football.”

The Spanish Coach arrived at the Trigoria camp last night and took charge of his debut run-out at the training ground this morning.

His Press conference will be on Thursday, but in the meantime he sat down with Roma Channel.

“Totti? The captain is unique. I am very happy to be able to count on players of the calibre of Totti, Daniele De Rossi and Simone Perrotta, as they can set the example for their teammates.”

Mirko Vucinic has requested a transfer, but the club is eager to hold on to the striker.

“I like Vucinic a lot, as I like all players with quality. Mirko is very strong.

“I hope to transmit to the lads by philosophy, which is of very attacking football. We must always step on to the field with the same objective: Victory, whether home or away.

“This is what I believe in.”

The former Barcelona B tactician also implemented new approaches off the field, such as pushing all the tables together in the canteen to ensure the squad can eat together.

:clap:

We’ve been linked with Gabriel Heinze today :angry:

Bayern Munich are the latest club reported to be monitoring Mirko Vucinic.

Fellow Romanistas, i am looking to buy a new AS Roma jersey to replace my old one and maybe some AS Roma gear such as tracksuits, socks etc. Can any of you friends recommend a good website selling these sort of items online?

I purchased my “Totti 10” replica jersey off www.uksoccershop.com.

I had no problem with them, but I have read since that they have alot of unhappy customers regarding wrong items and sizes being sent out.

Thinking of purchasing one of these at the moment.

I spoke to an Argentinian, River Plate-supporting friend today about Lamela.

Not as good as Aimar was. Definitely the annointed star of River but lacked ball winners to feed him so didn’t look as good in the last couple of years as his potential suggested.

Correction - Rocko eavesdropped on a conversation I was having with an Argentinian pal about Lamela.

Main points:

  • Not as good as Aimar was;
  • Definitely the annointed star of River over the last few years though;
  • The River side lacked ball winners to feed him so he didn’t deliver on his undoubted potential;
  • Will need a dominant midfield to give him the opportunity to wreak havoc or will have to adjust his game and work harder off the ball and drop deeper to impact the game;
  • Probaly not as good as Messi either.

Is Aimar viewed as a God by the River faithful?

Yes - they absolutely adore him.

Ah lovely, hopefully he will return to that sacred club soon and lead them back to times of glory.

Any thoughts on the Franco Baldini appointment? Joining us when England’s Euro 2012 commitments are over.

I know there have been strong links to Kameni but I heard a rumour Stekelenburg might be on Enriques radar, thoughts?

We’ve been heavily linked with Stekelenburg all summer but it seems we have now switched to the cheaper alternative in Kameni.

Both La Gazzetta dello Sport and the Corriere dello Sport are carrying the Heinze story this morning. I’m very disappointed if this is the height of our ambition in strenthening our defence. Heinze is a liability, both as a left back and as a centre half. Menez agent was quoted yesterday as saying he will be returning to France this season, will be sad to see him go as he has lots of ability and I think he would fit in with Enrique’s style of football. Marseille are the favourites to land him so Heinze will probably be some sort of makeweight. Menez contract also only has a year to run which should have a bearing on his transfer fee.

The Kameni deal is also said to be close to completion.

Heinze seems certain to sign. I’m not as oppossed as I previously was after learning Heinze is a free agent and looks set to sign a €12k a week contract. The lack of money being spent is a worry though.

What’s the hold up with transfers going through? Has Lamela’s deal even been included yet? According to reports and quotes from club officials and player agents we have all but signed Bojan, Jose Angel, Heinze, Nego and Kameni.
