AS Roma 2011/12

Francesco Totti: “The system and methods proposed by Luis Enrique are new, interesting and above all very stimulating.”

But I’m worried about the new owners. Very worried.

Great appointment. Baldini is a top class coach.

Heinze is a good signing too.

I hadn’t realised that Gianluca Curci had returned to us. I rate him very highly and would be happy to see him start the season as our no.1. Rumours circulating that the Kameni deal looks like falling through.

The back page of the Corriere Dello Sport is running with the story of chaos in the Roma camp. De Rossi not happy with his contract offer and Totti angry over the return of Baldini.

Jose Angel has completed his move to Roma and is now officialy an A.S. Roma player.

Welcome Jose.

Future Roma director general Franco Baldini: Francesco Totti should stop being lazy

Club captain must ‘free himself from laziness’ as incoming director fires a warning shot ahead of his autumn arrival

Future Roma director Franco Baldini has told captain Francesco Totti to kick his lazy habits to ensure the club expands their horizons next season.

The 50-year-old will return to his former club once he leaves his position as Fabio Capello’s right hand man with England in October.

Baldini fired a warning shot at the former Italy international telling him not to lean on political matters within the club.

“Totti still has four or five years left in him, but only if he focuses on football and not on other matters,” Baldini told La Repubblica.

"But he has to free himself from his laziness and from those using his name without his knowledge.

“He has to stop his laissez-faire attitude, the lighter he is [on team matters] the further he will go with football.”

Baldini was referring to the power Totti yields at Trigoria and his comments suggest he wants the Italian to keep the mindset on the pitch, not in the boardroom.

Totti has since replied to those thoughts, telling La Gazzetta dello Sport: “I better not respond or this could turn nasty.”

Totti was in training on Tuesday as he worked alongside Luis Enrique.

Baldini’s contract should be rescinded with immeadiate effect, IMO. Treacherous cunt has some cheek criticising the Prince of Rome.

A busy day for the wolves as we have now officialy signed 20 year old right back, Loic Nego, on a free transfer from Nantes.

Welcome to the eternal city Loic.

My source has also hinted to me at the imminent arrival of 23 year old Brazilian midfielder, Paulinho, from Corinthians for a fee believed to be in the region of €7m.

I doff my cap off to the new owners.

From my reckoning we have concluded the following business:

IN:
Borriello (€10m)
Lamela (€12-20m)*
Jose Angel (€4.5m)
Curci (€2.4m)
Nego (free)
Bojan (€10m)

  • Conflicting reports on the transfer fee.

Also strong links to deals being done soon with Paulinho and Heinze.

OUT:
Doni (free)
Loria (released)
Riise (€2.6m)
G. Burdisso (Loan ended)
Castellini (Loan ended)
Mexes (free)
Betolacci (€500k)

Barusso, Okaka and Simplicio should all be leaving in the near future too. Hopefully we can finally rid ourselves of that stain Cicinho.

We could do with a couple of centre backs now, I’d love for us to make a bid for Diego Lugano. It would also be great if we can tie De Rossi and Menez down and keep Mirko.

Heinze is reported to be flying into Rome later today to sign a one year deal.

We have opened up talks with Ajax about Stekelenburg but we are some way apart from agreeing a fee. The Dutch custodian has made his will to join la magica very evident.

I’d like to belatedly welcome Jose Angel and Loic Nego to Roma.

I don’t know if I mentioned it anywhere but I was actually at a Ajax game or two last season so feel free anyone to ask me for information on Stekelenburg.

Totti et al, what kind of a player is Nego?

Haven’t see him play Bandage but by all accounts he is an attacking full back who can play further up on the right side if need be. The lad is built like a sprinter so I’m sure he will be very athletic. He, along with Lamela, will be taking part in the U-20 world cup shortly. My main question is will he be involved much this season. We already have Cassetti, Rosi and Cicinho, none who inspire confidence in me. Under Spalletti or Ranieri, I wouldn’t expect Nego to get a look in and probably be loaned out but Enrique seems to embrace young players and he may yet have a first team role this season.

We badly need to get on with solving our problems in central defence. We need two further options here, I have identified Lugano, Coates and Kjaer as my three preferences to fill the two positions.

News circulating that we have raised our bid to betweeen €8m and €9m for Stekelenburg and his transfer may not be far off.

I have also received unconfirmed reports from my contact in the capital that Mirko Vucinic has left Roma’s pre season training.

Who else is interested in him apart from Spurs?

Juventus, as a back up option if Rossi’s move doesn’t materialise. Blackburn were also linked but I couldn’t see Mirko going there. I’m very surprised there hasn’t been more interest from the top 4 in the EPL, he would definitely strengthen any of their attacks and £15m for a guy of his calibre in todays transfer market would be a steal.

Would have thought that maybe the likes of Athletico Madrid might have been interested with the departure of Aguero. For 15 million he would be a decent addition to any squad

On a related topic is Jovetic expected to be back fit any time soon

I’d imagine Jovetic will be fit and raring to go for the start of the season. He’s a supereme talent and Fiorentina’s lack of ambition will certainly see a Januray or summer exit if he settles back in quickly.

Bojan has signed for €12m.

Barcelona can buy him back at the end of the 2012/2013 season for a fee of €13m. :o We can also choose to block it by stumping up €40m.

I don’t like this transfer, basically we are fucked if he does well, or he does badly.

We have officially signed Bojan from Barca for €12m. The deal is more complex than that but I’m not getting into it.

Would be a big boost for Montenegro’s Euro 2012 hopes as well

Wasn’t there something similar in place between Celtic and Barca for Marc Crosas? In fairness to Barca they were very fair then and didn’t exercise the right to buy him back despite his stellar performance.
