Apparently Lewy wanted to skip this round of Intl fixtures cos he was tired. The manager said grand. Then he named Zieliński as the new captain and Lewy went apeshit.

He is highly regarded but he is acknowledged as being a bit of a prick as well. Managing the Polish team is a nightmare, he’s undroppable.

He’s the PIS (current opposition) nominee. A bit of a boyo. The ruling parties wouldn’t agree to run one candidate so split the first round vote. The third place guy Mentzen from the new right party took 15% in the first round and they split 13/2 to Nawrocki in the second round. That was the difference. Mentzen is pulling a lot of young peoples votes and the votes of the lads asking questions. He’ll be in power the next election. Tusk’s coalition have delivered nothing in the last 18 months. There is a massive urban/rural split in the vote. The muldoons won this time.

Tusk can’t deliver anything because the last president was aligned with the opposition and blocked every piece of legislation, is my understanding. The new guy is the same as the last so will equally hamstring the government. Looks inevitable that Poland swings back to the awkward squad.

Poles losing 2-1 away to Finland in WC. Match suspended with 15 mins to go because a Finnish supporter got a heart attack.
