Townsend wasn’t in that team. I think Kevin Richardson and Garry Parker generally made up the central midfield that season.

Never heard of outside of Villa. Think it may have been his first start. Played him behind Dalian Atkinson. United weren’t expecting it. He wasn’t heard much after either. Big Ron was a great man for a one off match
