She set the whole thing up for Eire to be in that top 3 group. She’s an absolute machine

Easy miss the commentary roaring at the TV. Allen on the edge of tears.

Let’s just hope that’s not the only medal he gets to call home this week. Rhasidat and Ciara deserve their individual time in the sun. Here’s hoping they get it.

That was savage. Nice line by Rob(bie) in studio about Adeleke breaking Klaver…”you can see her soul leaving her body!”. As others have said, once Tom Barr stayed in touch with that Doom chap then Mawdsley was going to be hard bet given her improvement in the last 1-2 years & super anchor legs in the world relay recently. Fair play to O’Donnell too, of course. Great scenes. Olé x6.

Unreal…imagine how bad the heart was beating out of Sharlene chest and she passing the wan…the ultimate adrenaline rush

To run an anchor leg on a relay like that is every athletes dream. She knew she was faster and could just sit and wait and then make her move and glide away.

Track and field medals are hard won. That’s a great great win.

She didn’t panic either and go too soon . V composed run considering what was at stake and that it was probably the most important 15 seconds of her life coming around the last bends

An Irish sprint medal, like seriously, this wasn’t even a pipe dream a decade ago

She’s a different beast in relays. Even in the ladies 4x400m she was regularly running the 2nd or 3rd fastest split of the race when fighting for last or 2nd last. She gave Bol balls of it in the Caribbean which was ridiculous to see.

One of the big positives out of Covid and things like Dublin track club and Dublin sprint club. That alongside us having one of the best 400m ladies in the world right now. Having her in the ranks gives everyone else a ridiculous boost

Charles J. Haughey wouldn’t have missed a flag waving opportunity like this in Rome, even in the last hour of voting in an election. He’d have fired up the Government jet, left Dublin at 6pm, been there to wave the flag with the team, and been home by 1am.

Sharlene, Rhasidat and Bol the only ladies to go sub 50. Sharlene actually ran a faster split that Rhasidat which is bonkers.

Bol 49.21
Sharlene 49.40
Rhasidat 49.53

Rhasidat got sucked into a fight with Klaver which she didn’t need to and paid for it at the finish. Edrick Floreal will be fucking her out of her for that ahead of her 400m individual once the dust has settled after tonight. It’s mad now that we just expect her to be exceptional all the time now and nearly take it for granted.

Absolutely.

You have to be very proud of the whole effort over the past few seasons from Tokyo.

It’s a decade of coaching structures and great volunteer coaches too.

Klaver stayed out wide and kept Adeleke very wide too. She was trying to intimidate her. Adeleke was up for the battle ended up destroying her mentally. Klaver was flaked out for the last 50m. Was the winning of the race and worth the extra few hundredths
