We are so much better for the existence of OTB

Must be hard enough to execute a plan over a race of such a short distance where 10ths of a second is the difference between a well executed plan and a failure.

FAO of @Mac - I saw that RTÉ had the Euros on RTÉ 2 & some South Africa club rubby match on RTÉ 1 simultaneously yesterday. Was the reason to shunt the 4x400m mixed relay to the player that they couldn’t show sport on both channels? :rage:

Some joke…were Ireland playing in the euros game that was on? V little hype about it

The multi million euro contract for the 5th most important European rugby competition is critical for RTE

A 17 year old Phoebe Gill ran 1:57 for the 800m in Belfast I see. That’s 2 seconds faster than Ciara Mageens national record. That’s scary potential

So a new national record?

She represents the mainland so no

A lot to absorb here…

On 11th May 2024, Gill ran 1:57.86 at 800m in Belfast, to break the European Under-18 record of 1:59.65 set by East Germany’s Marion Geissler-Hübner 45 years previously. The time also met the qualifying standard for the 2024 Olympic Games and moved her to joint second place in 2024 world 800m ranking.[16] She was invited to run for Britain at the 2024 European Championships in June 2024 but declined, opting to study for her exams instead.[17]

Mark English just broke the Irish 800m record* to qualify for the Olympics. :clap:t2:

*his own

Sarah Lavin bounced back from her disappointing Euro Final run to clock a SB of 12.66

I thought I posted about Englishs post race interview where he said something about no one remembering European medallists in an Olympic year. And his sole goal was Paris. It sounded like nonsense after his run but fair fucks to him for getting the big Q in with a good 7 weeks to prep. He has no chance of a medal but deserves his shot at a final. Some going

And he takes another chunk off his NR last night. Sharlene runs her 2nd fastest time ever. Things simmering nicely for them

@TreatyStones you were asking if Rhasidat would make the US team. The start of their trials were today. The first round had a handful of ladies running sub 51. Plenty of shadow boxing I’m sure but nothing there she’d be worried about (no clue who is missing from it)

Women’s 400 meters, round 1: Lynna Irby-Jackson takes the first heat of the women’s 400 with a time of 50.89. Bailey Lear finishes second in 51.12 and Talitha Diggs finishes third in 51.57. Same format as the men’s 400 — five heats, with the top five in each heat advancing to the semifinals, plus the next two fastest overall. … Aaliyah Butler cruises to victory in the second heat, in 50.44. Isabella Whittaker crosses second in 51.18, followed by Kendall Ellis in 51.22. … Shamier Little blows away the field to win the third heat in 50.13 seconds. Kimberly Harris is a distant second in 51.07 and Jermaisha Arnold places third in 51.20. … Alexis Holmes wins heat 4 in 51.05, with Rosey Effiong second in 51.21 and JaMeesia Ford third in 51.55. … Rachel Joseph takes the final heat in 50.92. Quanera Hayes is a close second in 50.94 and Kaylyn Brown places third in 51.09. … Also advancing to the women’s 400-meter semifinals: Bailey Lear, Na’Asha Robinson, Jan’Taijah Jones, Lauren Lewis, Courtney Okolo, Madison Whyte, Ziyah Holman, Kiah Williams, Jessica McDowell, Jania Martin, Kaylin Whitney, Paris Peoples, Ceonna Pipion.

Here you go @TreatyStones - not fit to lace our Rhsidat’s boots (without knowing if they eased down or not!)

Favourite for the Olympic title, Athing Mu fell in 800m US trials and is out of Paris. What a stupid system.

If you were wondering how such Athing could happen.

They need to bring in a back door to the championship
