The organisations need a rumour mill, they need someone to stick above the shit to make it seem like it a rarity.
They cannot control it so they control the narrative.
The people who suggest just let them at it, they are all on drugs and they know the risks are actually getting their way, if a little unintentionally.
There are people not doping. But they are also not winning.
If you look at Gatlin he is ten years older and “drug free” and running times around or better than his best times when he was caught doping.
European athletics wish to reset world records to 2005 is as one article put it “eye wash”. All about money and wanting crowds to see world records. As if athletics is clean since 2005.
Drugs are a bit of a red herring. Every sport they all do what they can do for an edge. Farah lives in a house where oxygen levels can be controlled, takes drips - all legal.
Drug testing is all about the theatre and optics of fairness. Sort of like airport security. It’s what goes on behind the scenes that you don’t see.
Any well advised athlete should be able to dope and never get caught.
Having said all that highest level track and field is brilliant, compelling and humans at or beyond what is physically possible. Last nights 10km race was unbelievable sport. Athletics has failed to market itself properly which is a shame.

Yep. Amounts of money means people will do whatever they have to to preserve careers.
It’s probably why no drugs in GAA (or at least not systemic) - no resources and no money to fund it.

Individual players maybe. Costs a bit of cash to do it properly. Cannot see it being systemic just for that reason. Not because of morals.
