Just after reading the Irish Times piece there. That was a very hard read. The poor girl. God help her. What an inspiration she is as well though, her stoicism and outlook.

Some finish by Healy. Surely to God UCD have more than two natural 400m runners though?
The opposition wasn’t great but she gave them some head start.
Maybe UCD had nowhere to practice.
They tore up the track to build a car park the year Ciara Mageean started her scholarship after choosing UCD over the States
Yer one must have pulled a muscle surely. A decent runner would never give up a 100m head start

The relay was probably at the end. Finn and the others could have ran steeplechases or two 1500m races.

Phil Healy retiring. She has a fair body of work behind her, starting in barren times for Irish sprinting. She got a lovely finish with the European silver and Olympic 4th in the relays.
What’s Adelekes story? Did that mug coach Flo destroy her?

Its worrying alright. There was an article in the Times at the weekend about her world rankings drop that I wasn’t able to access. She was entered up in a Diamond League in Shanghai I think but pulled out and there’s been no word since. I imagine its an injury she just can’t shake. Not a good sign as there’s plenty who she was ahead of in Europe who have now passed her out so even if she got to the Europeans in Birmingham she might struggle to medal at it.

Rhasidat returns at the Prefontaine Diamond League tonight over a non diamond league 400m. She’s listed to go again next weekend. All very encouraging at least.
She now has Allianz as a bib sponsor which has got a fairly mixed reaction from plenty of keyboard warriors over their links to the genocide.
She ran 52.26 to finish last.
Hope I’m wrong but I’ve a feeling she’s going to join evan ferguson and Terry Dixon in our what might have beens list

Her slowest time since 2019. Something not adding up. She runs again in Monaco on Friday so hopefully that’s a better showing. She hasn’t qualified for the Europeans in Birmingham yet.
Her PB is 49.07. The glass half full angle would be that it’s a “rust buster” first competitive run in ages but she hasn’t run to her potential since 2024 now. Times in the 52s are ballpark what the reserve 4x400m squad members would be producing.
