Ausbloodystralia

Ah Australia Day, some great piss up’s have been had for Australia Day, pissheads one and all, ah the memories :pint:

It is a national holiday.

The best public holiday of the year imo

Great explanation.

you seem awfully angry a lot these days Kev?

Australia day commemorates the landing of the first fleet, the first boats that arrived from Britain to Botany Bay with a load of convicts and others to set up the first European colony in NSW. Which is why there are some small protests every so often by indigenous communities who call it Invasion Day. Some have called for it to be moved and merged with Anzac Day, which would make more sense to me to be honest.

I dont see a big problem with the general premise of it though. Its a national day, much like every other country, where they celebrate their country. Australia will always get a hard time over this because they are only around 200 odd years and claimed land etc from aborigines back then, but for the people of today, why should they suffer what happened long before their time? If they want to try celebrate a bit of national pride and try generate a bit of heritage, then let them off.

my only issue with it is the timing of it and what original day it celebrates. its a bit odd to celebrate a day that convicts and others arrived to pillage. and also the amount of young drunk people going around the foreshore of Perth isnt great to see. The fireworks down there are class though.

Angry - injured, is probably the reasoning. Pissed off with being restricted and having too much time to think, and worse read. The hidden history of Ozland is quite disturbing. On top of that i’m just noticing more and more what this place is (Perth). I think i’ll be gone after April to be honest. I suppose i expected more of this country, and it just continues to disappoint. Melbourne was a highlight though and i could certainly see a better time there. When you are sick or injured as well when you are away i think you start to miss home more, again possibly to do with thinking time! I agree with your reasoning and ideas on Oz day, but its a pretty stupid day to celebrate. You just know there is no solid foundation to this country, there was no Lincoln, Adams, Washington or even a De Valera/Michael Collins here. australia could be an amazing country, they just haven’t found someone to steer the ship yet.

You could be that man, Kev.

The ROI is an unusual example to use. A quisling economy and a national day to commemorate a shepherd.

How did you find Sydney Kev? You wrote it off as a shithole before you arrived so it has to have beaten that expectation?

Lenin-han’s adviser McWilliams wrote a piece recently that forsee’s doom for Aus in the next few years.

woeful post - the jibe about the sheppard,a woeful slag to Kev- i guess he is trying to make a point by the way he spells lenin-han

oddball

+1

I think my skills would be better utilized elsewhere to be honest Bandage

Read my post on it dipshit.

I can see doom here too, they have no control on whats going over here, everything they do in WA seems inept. I think they’ll make a royal balls of it and put the country in a hole, but it will probably be a few years away yet. The Chinese have them by the balls with the mining. CHinese demanding all products for mining thats for China has to be Chinese. Now anyone who has work with any form of Chinese consumable construction product or the like knows its utter crap. Thats one point, but the other is small to medium Aussie businesses who rely on mining are going to get fucked. Already they are resenting the Irish and the likes going working in the mines making the money, it will only get worse.

Starting drinking to pass the day.

Where all your dreams come true?

Going on the job listings Sid it’s certainly a possibility. I lined up a week (self financed though) with a Pro team later on in the year, might be a foot in the door, maybe not. But it’ll look someway decent on the CV anyway.

come home kevin, its not nice seeing you like this

???

I’m happier than i lt on hbv, this is a good venting ground. Not saying its all rosie here, its far from it, but i’m still learning more and more about myself and what i like and don’t like, thats never a bad thing. Some people know allt his very easily, more like me have to discover it. Just the way i’m built.

Don’t worry about me hbv, although i appreciate the concern. I love Ireland, but just don’t want to be there right now.
