No - projecting it onto @TheUlteriorMotive and others looking at buying. Not all are as committed as you, carefully tending your charcoal fire in the depths of winter.
You are really making it sound more complicated than it is.
If you have a decent bbq, with a cheap starter chimney for the charcoal then there is very little too it. @TheUlteriorMotive is a foodie and will appreciate the superior smokey flavour a charcoal bbq can impart in a short space of time.
You are at nothing without one, seriously.
If you have bad experiences with charcoal not lighting or keeping heat, it’s most likely you didn’t use a chimney to start it.
I don’t think its complicated - you figured it out so that’s a good benchmark. I do think it takes additional time and effort and I think that’s worth flagging to to time-poor go-getters like @TheUlteriorMotive
I’m glad that’s settled.
It’s like someone who drives a Kia telling someone who’s thinking about buying a Merc, that they would be better off with a kia.
I’d say its more like someone with a car patiently explaining to someone who insists that his cart and donkey is a “more authentic experience” that convenience is important too. But agreed, we should move on !
