BDO World Professional Darts Championships 2014

James averaging over 96, Christian over 95 - averages don’t get much better than that.

James now showing why he’s the number 2 seed as he takes a 2-1 lead.

Just in the door; do you have a link for tonight’s action @Sidney?

What a 143 from James!

Christian looked like he’d break throw there.

James just one leg away now leading 2-1 in set 4.

Wilson wins!

Christian Kist hasn’t played as well as that in a long time, as Jim Proudfoot said, he did nothing wrong, but the Yorkshireman put in the performance of the tournament so far.

A great match, darts the real winner.

Just caught the last leg and The Jammie Dodger’s celebrations. He really danced off the stage - what a showman. He’s my tip for the title too, of course.

I see both players averaged 96 on the BDO boards with the smaller trebles.

That translates to about 128 on a pdc board, given the 30% bigger trebles on a Unicorn.

That’s the end of the first round action.

Dave Prins played the best (TB) he’s ever played at Lakeside as he beat Jim “Seamus” Williams 3-0, while the reigning England Classic, Jersey Open and Northern Ireland Open champion, Middlesbrough’s Glen Durrant, beat 58 year old New Zealander Mike Day by the same scoreline.

In the storied history of this great tournament, has it ever happened before that both of the previous year’s finalists were eliminated in the first round?

Great question Wrigley. I’ll need to do some research to answer that but it’ll be a real pleasure to look back over the individual Wikipedia pages for each tournament since 1978 to find the answer.

Today’s action is underway and we’re into the last 16.

And what a clash to start the day. Liverpool takes on Newcastle as Kong meets Big Robbo. Robbie has just taken a 3-1 lead in sets, first to 4 wins.

Gary will be kicking himself - needing 25 to make it 2-2 in the deciding leg of set 4, he busted himself by hitting treble 9.

Real drama, real people.

No 4-3 thriller this time between Liverpool and Newcastle as Kong seals a 4-1 win.

I was very impressed with Kong in the match against Richie Rich.

Dave Prins walking on to “Teenage Kicks” for his match against Stephen Bunting.

The experienced John Rawling is a new voice in the BBC commentary box, alongside Tony O’Shea.

Dave Prins throwing a 112 average with 3 180s in the first three legs, but is still 2-1 down.

You’ve got to feel sorry for Dave Prins. He threw very well but he’s been annihilated by Stephen Bunting. Well over a 100 average and a 63% conversion rate on doubles.

A lot of people will be punting on Bunting after that.

I hope Prins breaks his fuckin arms the cunt.

2014 is here, a new year it has dawned
Through the drunken fake darts on Sky Sports, how we yawned
The boorish crowd shouted that tables were boring
Through the Toure chant, real darts fans couldn’t stop snoring

The real darts is here, a delight and a joy
The Lakeside is heaven, it’s the real McCoy
Camaraderie, artistry, friendship and fun
The famous old trophy is there to be won

The standard this year is the highest of all time
Great darts and great players, great fans, it’s just sublime
The one true world championship, we all agree
And every day free to air on BBC

The fans give the very best of order all day
They don’t shout when the players are trying to play
Their knowledgeability is plain to see
Not like the Oi Oi crowd in the pdc

Tony Green’s timeless voice behind the mike
Wayne Mardle on Sky, he can take a big hike
The legendary voice of darts, second to none
The best, the original, still number one

Olly Croft would be proud of the Lakeside today
The father of darts always did it his way
The BDO system it brings through the kids
The Best Darts Organisation, it certainly is

Lakeside is passion and Lakeside is mystery
Which player will write their own chapter of history?
Adams or Bunting or Waites or O’Shea?
Or maybe a young gun will carry the day?

The memories are stored away in darts folklore
Of Bristow and Jocky and Barney and more
A magical tournament of many parts
As Martin Fitzmaurice would say: Let’s Play Darts!

The BDO is piss and it’s poor less darts on the board than there is on the floor, with averages of 50 and crowds of 98 I would rather stare at the wall and masterbate.

Averages of 98, mate. And 104, like Wesley Harms is hitting at the moment.
