A prominent Tipperary hurler went home from Dublin with his tale between his legs after an altercation with him after the 2018 final.
I have some recollection of a story About him taking down a northern protestor who entered the field of play in an all Ireland final ? I think paidi might have exaggerated his own role in the incident…
Chucked a couple in the net within a few minutes of each other in an All Ireland semi final too.
I think he’ll go down as the best of all time.
But in the specific 2010-2019 window McCarthy edges him given what he has achieved.
Spot on there lad.In the timeframe @Fulvio_From_Aughnacloy has specified then it has to be McCarthy. 8 All Irelands and played every minute of all 8.
It’s between Cluxton, Keegan and Mccarthy. Arguments can be made for them all, but nobody else gets near them. Keegan would be my pick for being both his sides best attacker and defender, and having to perform in more than just 1 game each year unlike the Dubs.
Cluxton makes some amount of mistakes for a goalkeeper to be included here.
Keegan was unreal from 13 to 17.Must have been a nightmare to mark.Theres a documentary to be made on his battles against Dublin alone but it has to be McCarthy for his consistency.
He changed the game. That’s his legacy. And 8 All Ireland’s. Seven as captain.
Another one who will go down as one of the greatest of all time.
Watch from 1h 5 minutes there to 1 hr 12 minutes.
Cluxton fucks 2 goals away in an All Ireland semi final in the space of 6-7 minutes.
The difference between Cluxton and other goalkeepers is that he has the teammates to cover for his mistakes.
He had an absolute meltdown against Mayo in on of the drawn games a few years back. A meltdown at the start of the All Ireland against Tyrone in 2018 and a meltdown at the start of the semi final against Galway of the same year.
It’s worth reminding people of this. They tend to forget because Dublin can cope with their goalkeeper performing like a bombscare where other counties can’t.
When McCarthy was wingback for Dublin McCaffrey was the better wingback, and now he is in midfield Fenton is the better midfielder. Class act and great consistency but Keegan has been incredible.
Jack McCaffrey
Not this shite again

Goalkeepers aren’t to be included when discussing footballers. Cluxton is an average club footballer outfield.
Imagine Colm Meaney hosting a homage to the Dublin football team with contributions from @peddlerscross, Des Cahill and Roy Curtis.

A couple of bad kick outs in a row is not a meltdown. That show pony niall Morgan does that most days. Cluxton is the GOAT and will be remembered as such. No amount of whataboutery and hyperbole from sore losers like yourself will change that.

Other goalkeepers don’t have O’Callaghan, Kilkenny, Fenton, McCarthy, McCaffrey etc to bail them out when they drop clangers.
I would say for absolute certain that Cluxton has cost Dublin more goals in the past 4/5 years than Morgan has Tyrone. Cluxton has the easiest job of any goalkeeper in the game. Simple as that.
The two goals against Kerry, the goal against Galway were all unquestionable Cluxton clangers. His kickouts were very poor in the first half last weekend as well, Cluxton gets away with it though.
Didn’t have as strong a cast around him. Regularly outscored the opposition’s marquees forward. He was sensational.
