Best hurler not to win an all star 2000 to 2010

Mulcahy took his place, Murphy started all three finals 2004-2006

Ya I was very young but I just remember one fella didn’t start the two finals wins or something like that. Excellent stuff big mick

Was Shelock mouthy? Which manager made that decision?

Murphy was subbed off early in one wasnt he? He had a bad migraine if I recall

I always remember walking about three hours around some town looking for a cork v Waterford game as a youngster. Cathal naughton came on and turned it.

O’Grady. Don;t believe there was a falling out or bad blood

Mulcahy to his credit was hurling very well on the Newtownshandrum team. He was an excellent centre back for them, as BIAT says he wasn’t really a corner back but was tough and a leader. He was solid if unspectacular but Sherlock was a real out in front attack the ball bald header corner back. Mulcahy was more of a Jackie Tyrell type corner back mauler

Murphy got an awful roasting around 2010 didn’t he in some game. Got sent off I think.

O’Grady is a my way or no way man. Sherlock was too good a back to leave off for hurling reasons.

O’Grady’s selections with Limerick were bizarre. I’d say there plenty of similar odd decisions when he was over cork.

He had them playing lovely stuff in fairness. Very few could live with the pace and the running game.

Cork are still suffering from it today tho — every club in the county replicated it up to recently.

I think it was actually John Allen but I’m sketchy if the exact details, Sherlock played all through the 04 championship including the final, I think it was in that match that Murphy went off early and was replaced by John Browne, it was 05 that Mulcahy played corner back,O’Grady was gone by then

The 04 Munster Final game is up on youtube … the forum are all going to sit down to watch it on Saturday evening and comment away in the match thread like it was a live match. Should be great craic.

Limerick were huge winners from him. He restored discipline and some pride while improving the basic skill of a lot of players.

Yes, I had my years muddled. I had 2004 as the losing final but that was 2003. Allen was in back in 2005. Mulcahy did play a bit under O’Grady, think he started the 2003 final. Was he injured in 2004?

The 2003 team had Kenny at wing back and Gardiner at midfield, switching the two of them made a huge difference

Disagree strongly.

The loss to Dublin was as bad as it got, John Allen improved Limerick a lot more in my opinion

The road started under o Grady and was finished by Allen. O Grady set a different standard at training and discipline to any other limerick manager before.

All Stars are a sham if Tom Kenny never got one.
