Boxing Thread

And it failed, miserably.

Failed? It was an absolute masterclass from one of the greatetst fighters in the history of sport. Mayweather is probably the greatest pure boxer that ever lived, enjoy and appreciate him while you still can.

One man running from another doesn’t interest me as a spectacle… Boxing is up their with golf and cricket on the boring scales.

It wasn’t running, it was masterful and if you can’t appreciate that then stay away from boxing.

Like Andre Ward his ability truly isn’t appreciated as he isn’t a brawler or slugger.

I don’t like Mayweather, he is an utter cunt but he is as good a defensive fighter than I have ever seen. Mike Tyson was as reprehensible a cunt if not more so but because he was more “exciting” to the average fight fan he got a pass

What boxing? There were no boxes thrown… maybe they need to rename it to ducking? Then I could probably appreciate it more…

:D:D:D

A clip of the chinese lad swinging wildly and not an ounce of power — and these are the best the ‘sport’ has? He tickled Mayweather and made him laugh… Did Mayweather throw any punches at all?- the chinese lad could be blown over he is so light… surely the master could have knocked him down?

Quite ironic that your whole argument here seems to be swinging wildly but lacking any real power.

I merely commented on what I witnessed last week and in general in boxing over the last few years - Totti stuck up a ridiculous clip in defense of the sport… the bubble has bust tho, the game is over. You guys can get all defensive if you want but some of the greats of the sport felt the need to come out and apologize for what took place last week it was so embarrassing.

Of course the greats came out to “apologise”. Anything for another 15 minutes and to remind us all how great they were. Yes, boxing has become more cautious from the cavalier days of the Four Kings but so have a lot of sports. The primary objective these days is to not lose, and that’s something Mayweather obviously excels in.

For Mayweather it is. Some still want to fight the best and some still go out to beat their man.

Tyson was mentioned a minute ago but he was an incredible defensive boxer too. Ali too, could practically do what Mayweather does, but he didn’t.

The Art of Boxing is about not getting hit as well as punching your opponent. Dislike Mayweather if you want but he is a master.

In a perfect world the fight should have happened 10 years ago but Mayweather didn’t have to agree to it because boxing doesn’t work like that anymore and he was the champ beating anyone who was put in front of him.

It’s a bit like saying Chelsea should agree to stop spending millions just to give the likes of Stoke City a chance. It doesn’t work like that.

Don’t hate the player, hate the game

That’s all fine lads, and bringing other sports doesn’t change a thing. Boxing is gone to shite

Plenty of great fights out there that lads like you will enjoy mate. Watch the next Alvarado fight and it will rekindle your faith in the sport.

When is that on, pal?

That should have said Alvarez mate, autocorrect, on tonight. Or watch Golovkin next sat. If Leonard were around these days in Mayweather’s position he’d move up and fight Golovkin.

Fuck off.

Mayweather fought the best and won. Stop living in the past, boxing has changed, the best fights don’t happen anymore for a myriad of reasons, not because a boxer is afraid of another opponent!

Ali doesn’t have a patch on Mayweather defensively. Look at the damage he took in his career, he was tough as nails and a phenomenal boxer but he wasn’t anything special defensively.
