BREXIT thread

You need a cause in both countries, you don’t in the US

Your statement was wrong. Like Boris you will continue mouthing away shite.

You’re a buffoon.

Yep, and OK for “gross misconduct” an employee can be dismissed but you’d still have to have it nailed down.
For performance for example, the employee has to be given the chance to improve via training\supervision. As far as I understand it, in the US they can be just shown the door.

In practice in the US you do (need cause). Obviously you have to operate within the law, anti-discrimination laws in the US are very strong and strongly enforced. At will employment works both ways, an employee can walk away from their job at any time with no legal consequences.

The reality is that most companies do go through a process, actually quite similar to the UK. Performance issues are documented and if someone is terminated, it is generally after a succession of written warnings. Terminating people for no reason is very bad practice, and in a country that has such low unemployment, counterproductive.

Legally yes, but in practice not common. Performance appraisals, performance improvement plans, etc. are the norm.

so the laws are very different between US and UK. thanks,

Oooft!

Another own goal for Boris.

No fear of him reducing his emissions anyway.

Whatever your political hue I believe Simon Coveney has been outstanding in this Brexit omnishambles he’s articulate and clearly getting under the nose of the Brits as per Raabs outburst yesterday

Where is Varadkar hiding lately?

He’s had a nervous breakdown

He should be out there showing leadership. This is a serious situation that requires diplomacy and compromise. Coveney is making unhelpful inflammatory statements that is antagonizing the British

+1. Leo should leave him at it.
I’d say Leo is probably grateful for the Brexit thing at the moment. The childrens hospital and the nurses fiasco is nibbling away and under normal circumstances should make FF reconsider the c&s agreement
