Cars

Well to do knackers car. You’re dead right.

You’ll get the most bang for your buck with the Citroen but in the long run you’ll regret it so that’s a no.

The VW Sharan is actually a nice car to drive & offer tonnes of space.

The Outlander would be the best pick provided its a 4wd as you can hook it up to a Trailer etc but they will be the priciest option. If you can get one at decent money i’d go that way in 4wd.

Send me on some links to the options available for a look.

Has anyone on here ever bought a car under a PCP agreement?

I think I read an article before about how they were a bit of a scam (probably the wrong word) and didn’t really offer you anything you weren’t entitled to by consumer law anyways. Can’t remember the details though.

I don’t think they are a scam, from the little research I have done they certainly seem to be a better approach than a HP if you were to buy brand new

Main draw back seems to be that after the PCP expires that you have to pay another deposit to upgrade to a new car again so what you are possibly saving in interest is lost here.

Ya, and if you are borrowing for the deposit in the first place then you have the deposit plus the monthly payments to make.

They are all the rage in UK at the minute. I haven’t looked too deeply into it, but it seems to be geared towards people who constantly want new cars.
The big advantage for me would be the ability to walk away after a year or whatever if circumstances had changed.
Essentially it has the same disadvantages as renting a house, i.e. you’ve no asset for your cash outlay.

BTW being better than hire purchase is no great boast. Hire purchase is the greatest scam known to man, exploitation of people who can’t afford credit on a level comparable to a pawnshop.

I am about to. Makes sense for a depreciating asset as you only pay the depreciation. I can see they could tempt people to buy cars they cannot afford.

Being sold on basis that the actual value of car will be higher in three years than the guranteed future value and you use that “equity” as part deposit for next car. If that actual value is not much more than the guaranteed future value then people will have to fund deposit from savings. That is main thing hidden from people I think.

Calling all TFK motorist.

Fill your cars, jeeps & vans before midnight tonight, a price increase of up to 5c on Diesel due tonight. Petrol will probably jump a little more.

Harry. About three months ago I paid a chunk of cash for a car I didn’t need. Not only did I not need it, I had never actually seen it , and I had never met the man I bought it off , who is / was a friend of my brothers next door neighbour.
Having heard nothing for a month, I got my brother to make a polite enquiry. It “transpires” that the car in fact apparently was in Hong Kong at the time but was being transported back.
I then , having heard nothing for a further six weeks, made a further enquiry via two intermediaries and was reliably informed that it was on a ship which was , at that time, in the Panama Canal. In the past month I have heard nothing further.
Should I be concerned do you think??

All seems above board to me

Worrying story. My knowledge of shipping times is poor though, pal.

Probably best to ask a shirt lifter like @Nembo_Kid who would know Sailors fairly well.

Informative rating.

You would want to be getting medieval with the brother’s next door neighbour at this stage.

Ah right. Do you think I should be concerned about this whole episode balbec? You are a man of the world.

In any case, it also transpires that my brothers next door neighbour, a professional gambler, wellied out 60k to your man around the same time for a Bentley which also seems have done the Event Horizon on it.

A visit with a baseball bat could be in order at this stage.
