Three years left on his contract and they extended it and gave him more money. I think the jury have well and truly delivered their verdict.
Ā£25 million and Ā£100k per week on a left back who misses 50% of games through various injuries. He is clearly talented and a fan favourite when on the field, the new contract suggests they think they can keep him right. I hope he does stay fit, he is clearly a decent lad.
Iām fairly sure Iād a similar discussion here 2 years ago when he signed about whether he is injury prone - it all depends on whether you think being injured for 50% of all games is enough to earn that label.
Injury prone is a subjective term.
I know many Arsenal fans for some reason. All of them are delighted with Tierney and think he was an absolute steal. Getting someone of his quality for that money is a huge bargain even if he only plays half the time. Nobody plays 100% of the time but Tierney is well worth Ā£50m+.
Tierney is one of the top 15 players in the world.
Injury prone by Arsenal standards is missing 40 games a season. They are used to the likes of Jack Wilshere and Abou Diaby, the latter may even be still on the books.
True, but there is a world of difference between that and a player who is only available 50% of the time. Its not like its one big injury either, its from about 5 different injuries involving his hip, shoulder, knee, etc. Iād struggle to think of a player with a record like it over the past 2 seasons. Lads have their minds made up so we can leave it at that
Tomas Rosicky too.
Youāre continuing to talk out of your arse. He played two games less than Ajer last year.
You have a great collection of stats, itās a pity they are either always wrong or irrelevant.
You chimed in that the difference between Ajer and Tierney is that Ajer is not a crock. The facts seem to contradict what you said
Incorrect
I know you are. The facts refute your assertions.
Heās been injured for 488 days in his career. Thatās a crock
How many minutes did each play last season? If you can confirm that we can discuss matters further. Ajer missed some games because of quarantine rules also, hardly a reason to query his injury record.
Propensity for injury should be measured over a career, not one season. A fella could have one bad injury, doesnāt make him a crock.
Tierney is constantly picking up niggles and frequently gets serious ones.
Iād say that is a fair summary. If he gets a clear run he is a great buy for Ā£25 million, but some of the injuries he picks up are from the most innocuous of incidents. I looked at that link you provided there and it doesnāt include the heap of games he missed after injuring himself against Liverpool, which kept him out of the Europa quarter final and first leg of the semi final. His record is worse than that link suggests.
So you are contending something you donāt know the answer to?
I know Tierneys minutes were about 2900, i was hoping you could tell me Ajers without me going looking. Have you got them?
Youāre the one contending something you donāt know so?
Hmm, an evasive answer that raises my suspicions. For the benefit of the board il go and see what I can findā¦
