Just an observation that if he runs down his contract, he wouldnā€™t be here for a qualifying campaign for a CL spot anyway.
Itā€™s just not fair to be assessing the Celtic central defenders as yet. If they are big enough, strong enough, fast enough, and intelligent enough, they should mould into a very good unit. They need time with each other, and with a calm keeper, and at least Hart seems to get over his errors fairly quickly.
Both goals last night were more the hallmark of a central defence feeling their way both as individuals and as a unit.

Replace him with quality players and strengthen other areas with quality

Then again the board will want to pocket the money.

Only automatic if the winners of the CL or the EL qualify via their league. Which is highly likely but not guaranteed.

Iā€™m not saying Starfelt is shit. Itā€™s unfair to judge completely yet.

But right now heā€™s a bombscare and we canā€™t afford a bombscare at the minute. Without question we need a first team quality defender in ASAP or we could have to deal with the consequences of not.

VVD would have struggled in that back four all of whom were pretty much thrown together by chance and necessity, with a new goalie, and a young lad barely out of school (who looked very good I thought, bit of cut about him)
AZ were/are a very good side.

A relative novice has looked far more adept in it.

I know circumstances arenā€™t ideal for settling but you have to expect far more from Starfelt, regardless of the circumstances.

Itā€™s not just this game, Jablonec, the two games v Hearts, last night and not games against AZ he made considerable mistakes.

Letā€™s not mix up how they will eventually settle in as unit and the basic individual inability to defend last night ā€¦ Re the first goal ,ā€™no bounce ā€˜ is probably the first thing a centre half is thought in school boy levelā€¦re second goal, attack the fcukin cross ā€¦ it should never have got to starfelt to fcuk up ā€¦

Agreed, but it was a big game, away, against a very good side, and a novice back five. It was uncertainty across the board, which isnā€™t right, but itā€™s understandable in some ways. Itā€™s also why itā€™s imperative not to play against Hamish mcjockstrap every week.
Iā€™m mainly interested in beating the huns tbh. If we got automatic CL spot, itā€™d properly sicken them.

Be interesting to see rangers team for Sunday and if they pulled a bit of a fast one saying lads couldnā€™t travel for last nights fixture when really just resting them.

I doubt they would tbh. They could easily have gone out and Gerard would have been under pressure.

More progress on the Greek chap that people seem indifferent towards.

Talk of Griffiths going on loan to Dundee.

Great news to get rid of that waster who has had all the chances in the world

The Grecian as a replacement for Griffiths (as opposed to Edouard) would be a great upgrade. Also if Griffiths leaves on loan he wonā€™t be able to play against us which would be no harm

If the Greek comes in. We would have Kyogo, Ajeti and him through the middle. Iā€™d then place more emphasis on a winger, such as Lovric to replace Edouard.

Big Dunc has it that Giakoumakis is on his way.

Obviously happy enough if heā€™s a Griffiths replacement, extremely underwhelmed if heā€™s an Edouard replacement.

Benfica talent Felipe Jota is on the transfer radar of Celtic.

Parkhead manager Ange Postecoglou is looking to add to his squad before Tuesdayā€™s deadline and Record Sport understands the 22-year-old forward has emerged as a potential option.>

Greek striker Georgios Giakoumakis is on the verge of sealing a Ā£2.5million move from VVV Venlo, while the signing of Liam Scales was announced on Friday.

And we understand that another deal is in the pipeline before the window slams shut on Tuesday night, with Jota ready to come in on loan from > Portuguese giants Benfica.

He spent last season on loan with Real Vallodolid in La Liga, scoring once in 17 appearances, and it is believed the Lisbon outfit are open to sending the winger out again to gain more experience.

The 22-year-old was a member of the Portugal under-19 team which won the European Championship in 2018, with his side getting the better of an Italy team featuring Nicolo Zaniolo, Moise Kean and Sandro Tonali in the final.

Jotaā€™s five goals made him joint top-scorer at the tournament, and he was named in UEFAā€™s best XI.

He has often been mentioned in the same breath as Joao Felix, the Atletico Madrid star and his former Benfica team-mate.

A loan.

Yipee. Hopefully thereā€™s an option in place.

Could be something here as both Kean and Richarlison are being linked with moves away.
