I donāt have an issue with signings like Bayo, Shved and Klimala.
We just had a Neanderthal manager who didnāt give them a chance.
These project players have generally been a waste of time. Someone like Ajer clearly had a lot of potential as he had played pretty much a season of top flight football at 17 but the other guys who have played a handful of games at lower league just donāt really inspire any hope.
Agree with both of you @flattythehurdler & @flattythehurdler. Think thereās a difference between the likes of Ajer, Bayo, Shved etc that have shown promise in other top flight leagues and the raft of obscure lads plucked from youth team set ups in lower league English clubs where itās obvious theyāll never feature.
Celtic taking up the 1-year extension option on Ralstonās expiring contract according to reports this morning. Grim. Heās shite. Iām guessing itās just a case of padding out squad numbers with so many other departures. But still.
Someone like Benkovic would surely be a great target for Celtic now.
I saw enough of him in his first term to see heās a decent defender. Heās had his injury problems and seems to have had a few poor loan spells but is a good age (23) to get it all together.
He has two years left on his deal so Iād Celtic could potentially get him for Ā£5m or under. I think heād be worth that risk.
Iād be very worried about him. He wasnāt injured in Belgium. He just couldnāt get off the bench in a league where Jack Hendry starred at centre back. Thatās after Cardiff couldnāt send him back quick enough after his solitary appearance.
A gamble on a free but spending Ā£5m on an injury prone centre back who has been a disaster on his last two moves would be foolish IMO.
We need a couple of part time bricklayers and a nightclub doorman from league one in quick. A cultured Gallic ennui wonāt cut it at Hamilton on a wet Thursday night.
Dominique Heintz, a 27 year old German centre back with Freiburg. My extensive research tells me Kicker had him rated as Freiburgās second best defender in 2019/20.
Riccieli, a 22 year old Brazilian centre back playing in Portugal with Famalicao.
