Celtic Transfer Windows 2022 & 2023

Think Matt Oā€™Riley is a better attacking midfielder than Barkley anyway. I repeat we need a different type of midfielder for Europe - fast, physical, defensive instincts, good distributor of the ball. Someone to offer protection to the defence and set the tempo of the team when we have the ball. Not much to ask for like.

Ross Barkley? That would be a coup for Celtic. Similar to Rangers signing Ramsey on loan last summer, except youā€™d hope for a more positive impact.

Youā€™d imagine Barkley would be on massive wages at Chelsea. A return to Everton would make more sense.

I like Barkley. Heā€™s the kind of blade lowering thug would take lundstrom on at his own game.
Iā€™m more interested in beating the huns than Europe though, other than going further in Europe than they do.

Iā€™d trust Ange to get the best out of him.

I donā€™t think heā€™s that type of player at all really. Maybe he is, has he some dodgy tackles in his back catalogue? I had him down as a ā€œskillā€ player who hasnā€™t fulfilled his potential rather than a thug or someone that puts himself about.

Same for me ā€¦ a talented player who goes to new clubs and plays well initially until people say heā€™s good and then he stops trying ā€¦

:crossed_fingers::crossed_fingers:

He has a streak when he needs it alright.
Ask lovren and Henderson. An oul derby gets him a tad excitable.

Ange a notable absentee in Jullienā€™s thank you list. I quite liked Jullien but I donā€™t think the club really wanted to offer him a contract renewal after the long term injury and Ange clearly prefers CCV, Starfelt and now Jenz so Iā€™m okay with that. Jullien had a couple of very memorable Celtic goals, the late winner against Lazio and the League Cup Final winner against the huns.

He thanks Lennon.
Donā€™t let the door hit you on the way out.
A mediocrity really.

An excellent signing**

**Iā€™d never heard of him

Seems like a bargain at Ā£1.7m given he went to Russia l for Ā£6m.

Sead HakÅ”abanović signs for Celtic in a five-year deal

By Ryan Maher

Celtic Football Club is delighted to announce Sead HakÅ”abanović has signed a five-year deal with the champions to become the seventh signing of the summer, subject to international clearance.

The 23-year signs from Rubin Kazan, having spent the last few months of the 2021/22 season on loan at Swedish side Djurgardens.

Born in Sweden, the attacker started his career in the country of his birth at Halmstads, before signing for English Premier League side West Ham United in 2017.

Leaving England to return to Sweden, HakÅ”abanović had impressive spells with IFK Norrkƶping before moving to Rubin Kazan.

Capped 28 times for Montenegro, the new No.9 becomes the first player from Montenegro to pull on the Hoops and he canā€™t wait to experience life as a Celtic player.

Speaking to Celtic TV on his arrival, he said: "It feels amazing. What I know about Celtic is only good things and Iā€™m very happy to be here.

ā€˜I heard about it around a month ago and as soon as I heard that Celtic wanted me I said to my agent that he had to make it happen because this is where I want to play.ā€™

"Itā€™s an amazing club with good players, fans and history.

"Iā€™ve been watching some games and I think the team play in the same style as me.

"Iā€™ve been speaking to the manager as well and we had a good chat, speaking about how he sees me as a player and how he wants me to fit into his system and everything sounded good so that was it for me.

"Iā€™m a playmaker with some flair, Iā€™m good in one-on-ones, I have a powerful shot, Iā€™m quick and Iā€™ll give everything for this club.

ā€˜The team are doing great and I want to be part of that and make the fans, the club and myself happy.ā€™

ā€œOf course, Iā€™m very excited to play in the Champions League, itā€™s the best competition you can play in and thatā€™s a dream for me as a kid, so to see myself playing in that is very cool.ā€

Growing up in Sweden, HakÅ”abanović knew all about the clubā€™s history from the number of Swedes that have played for the club over the years.

But if he needed to know anything else about the club, his former teammate at Rubin Kazan, Carl Starfelt, was on hand to deliver more positive messages about the club.

He added: "I know that Henrik Larsson is a big legend here and I know his son really well.

"Hopefully I can do something similar to him which is very hard to achieve but Iā€™m going to try my best.

"I know Joe Hart and Albian Ajeti from West Ham and I spent some time with Carl in Russia.

ā€œHe saw somewhere that I was linked to Celtic and he wrote to me but I didnā€™t want to say too much, I just asked him about the club and he only said good things, so I canā€™t wait to get started now.ā€

Does Rangers qualifying for the group stages mean Celtic are likely to earn less in TV money from the champions league?

Itā€™s only pretend money

It makes a difference, but not massive. Think we are reduced by Ā£4m. We will earn more from group stages before results are factored in.

Itā€™s a significant change for them, and EL last season and CL this season has prevented them going into financial trouble. Doesnā€™t change our finances too much.
