Champions League Round of 57odd

“House private, family flowers only” kind of night…
I’ve said it for years - Lawwell will run this club into the ground and will make a fortune in doing it, he is one slimy piece of shit. We’ve been profitable for a few years now, nearly debt free but the downsizing continues. I’m becoming more and more apathetic to Celtic and what’s it becoming with it’s downsizing on the pitch, forcing it’s politics on us which are at odds with the roots of the club, selling out for a few quick bucks at any given opportunity, utterly deflating.

@The Scouse Cafu - reopen the Partick Thistle thread please.
This isn’t intended as a defence of Lawwell but none of those things began when he took over. That has been the strategy for a long time. Only O’Neill’s time in charge bucked the trend to any extent where he managed to persuade the Board to invest. But the political stuff, the downsizing, the cashing in on players, that’s been there our entire lives.

Celtic wouldn’t win the Scottish First Division FFS.

Scottish football is like hurling in that the best teams are in the second tier of the league.

The Swindon branch of Wernham Hogg paper merchants have just put in a bid to take over Celtic.

Tonight’s result will sort out the glory hunters from the real supporters. I don’t intend to go to any Celtic games before Christmas but I’ll continue to faithfully follow them on TV and on the INTERNET.

You’ll surely go on the big champions league nights?

A. Ha.

Roma, Liverpool, Arsenal, Manchester City and hopefully APOEL Nicosia are my Champions League clubs, pal.

Cashing in has always been there.

O’Neill’s first couple of years coincided with Desmond’s view or punt that Celtic would get into the EPL. It’s been back to biscuit tin since that idea got the short shrift.

Political stuff died with the peace process.

Henrik Larsson was the best signing and that was under the Wim Jansen. This stuff under Deila reminds me of Liam Brady’s reign…

Harsh to judge Deila yet. Players leaving and not replaced. He needs a bit of time to try and assemble a squad. Current players were atrocious tonight and in the first leg. And the defending needs a hell of a lot of work. But he needs to be able to bring in some players to suit his system, or any system.

At least he’s saying there will be some money available.

Probably harsh but Christ they were fuckin awful and the Legia players were right, St Pats were tougher opponents. That squad is better than Pats so they should have beaten them. It was calamitous over the two games.

Anyway I’m off for another can. I’m Henry Sellers tonight, can’t stop, pissed off, I just I hope Ms Goode’s waters don’t break although we’re still 2.5 weeks away and she’s away in bed so fingers crossed.

Going to watch Salmond v Darling debate now and hopefully bore myself to bed before the whiskey comes out.

BREAKING NEWS: Legia fielded an ineligible player last night. Celtic’s Champions League dream is reborn!

This would be our finest European conquest since we got Sion kicked out of the Europa League.

LEGIA:

Club announces that in connection with the match second leg third qualifying round of the Champions League Celtic FC - Legia Warsaw, UEFA opened an investigation on the participation by Bartosz Bereszyńskiego.

Club prepares relevant information and explanations which will be sent to UEFA today.
The result of the investigation will inform immediately after its completion.

Did this happen a few years ago too with a different club Celtic played?

He got red carded in the Europa league last season. Dip shits forgot about it. Still, would be a feeble way for Celtic to advance. 3-0 walkover or a financial penalty.

UEFA regulations however state that a ban only applies to a player if he is listed in a club’s squad for matches. As the player in question was not on Legia’s squad list for the St Patrick’s tie, he would have been ineligible for the Celtic match."
