Riverside theatre has no course form? all Ryan air winners had won in che at least once, and most of them had won grade 1s previous to winning it. If he wasn’t a Henderson horse he’d be 40/1, no run this season… Best of luck with that one
I take it you layed Hurricane Fly and Long Run last year beacuse they had no course form. How did that go for you?
Last time I checked the Ascot Chase that RT won at his leisure last year was a Grade 1. Besides, outside of Alberta’s Run , Riverside’s 2nd in last seasons King George is by far the single best peice of form on offer, way ahead the level of anything handicappers like Poquelin or spoofers like Somersby or Noble Prince are capable of.
If he had run this season he’d be roughly 5/1, hence the value at over twice those odds.
Hurricane fly had never run at che, riverside ran in the arkle and was not a factor, long run acted on the track in the RSA but didn’t jump
He’s poor value,I forgot about that grade 1 he won
It’s the real trend in the Ryan air, all 7 winners have had a previous course win, it’s a negative for rubi light but his run last year would indicate he likes the track and I am pretty sure he’s improved 4-5 lbs
Few bits & pieces from this morning
- Last years Foxhunters winner, Zemsky, ruled out of this years race with a leg injury
- Steps to Freedom will have a run on the AW in Dundalk this Friday over 1m4f
- Oscar Whisky may have a run in Kempton on the AW, provisionally entered in their bumper card
- Deloitte Hurdle favourite, Captain Conan, probably won’t have a run at the festival at all according to Chemical Nicky
So thats Zemky and Baby Run ruled out?
Aye, we only have to find a way for On The Fringe, Chapoturgeon and Monkerty Tunkerty to get ruled out now and we’re sorted
Have never followed Hunter Chasers at this time of year before with such interest
Does anybody (fenway perhaps?) know what the story is with Mick Hourigans promising chaser, Mr Cracker this season.
You will have to hope Merchant Royal doesn’t go either. Looks a very very good sort.
Have not heard anything. Horse only wins around limerick anyway.
He went well for a long way at last years festival, I presume we would have seen him before now if he had festival ambitions.
What are the forum’s opinions on Minsk for the Triumph hurdle and Realt Dubh for the Ryanair? I’ve had nibbles at 10/1 and 20/1 respectively. I’ve heard very promising stuff about Minsk and he has a good profile for the race, would like to hear how Realt Dubh has been doing but not heard anything from Noel Meade’s yard. He has proven his superiority with Noble Prince and could represent value if he turns up 100%.
Could never back a Noel Meade horse in che
And Irish trainers have a truly chronic record in the triumph hurdle as have french breds, have heard those thoughts re Minsk and dessie did win it back in the 80s with miller hill but I will be watching carefully what Henderson brings out from here, I don’t think we’ve seen the triumph winner yet
Re the GC, I think jo jo thinks synchronised has a right chance and he goes best fresh , think that is why he is skipping the hennessy, think quel esprit is classier but if he doesn’t perform sun i will back jps horse
Great card tomorrow, think captain Conan is very imature, fancy SLC to reverse wit cash an go, but if the Henderson horse is well there I will look at colour squadron for che. The one I really like tomorrow is pozych. Should be 6/1 and I think he’ll win the handicap hurdle, getting involved in that, also it’s a tough race but at 4/1 vi Venturi should be very close in the long distance chase, he’ll run well again at aintree and will collect, Philip Fenton has a very well regarded individual in the bumper…watch betting
Clonbanan Lad who won a hot enough bumper at Naas yesterday looks a decent tool. Scooted away from Willie’s Mozoltov handily enough. Got told about this lad on the plane back from Celtenham last year from a lad who buys and sells horses (he previously sold Cheltenian). Said he was the real deal.
I missed his win at Limerick at Christmas but was on yest (apologies for aftertiming) at 5/1. Mikey O’Connor trains and rides him but he’ll need a better jockey if he goes to Chelt as Mikey does plenty of looking round him and the horse is a little bit green if not coaxed in a straight line. Quote of 20/1 from Willie Hills for bumper after yesterday but will probably need a bit of cut.
i would be concerned about his effectiveness on better ground giving his action. looks a good prospect but could not have him on my mind for champion bumper.
Hes a fair good buyer if he picked up this lad, he cost 1600 quid only
I think we saw two maybe three potential Cheltenham winners today. Shadow Catcher looks an outstanding bet for the Triumph at 20/1, Last Installement at 8s for the RSA and I can only hope that Lambro goes for the Jewson, he’d be a real fancy of mine at around 20/1.
Gnd today was plenty soft enough to get toe in and while that was sufficient from last installment his jumping was not as good as previous and he was markedly right on 4 or 5, I suspect this was due to the better ground and worries still persist for me, I would strongly advise waiting until the day to back this horse
Call the police was the one I took for the jewson, would have been closer but for townsend getting it wrong after the last, he travelled superbly
QE did fine, he will be better with a stronger pace and I suspect will improve further, was sufficiently clear of last years novice bunch and goes there to a weaker race with a much better chance than a lower priced kempes last year, wouldn’t rule him out
Treacle ran a fine race and hopefully gets a reasonable Mark in the Irish national, one to follow
After today I am beginning to think re supreme that steps to freedom is as good as what’s there
