Cheltenham 2012

What do you mean by this Fenway?

has been running since early summer. ran in june, july and then december and january. granted you could say that he was freshened up from august to december but he is just not for me.

You sure he wasn’t put away between July and December? Have a look at Dunguibs first 4 races, the timing of them and the ground conditions. Not the same but a similarish profile. Would you have ruled out Dunguib in the same way?

did I not say that above? in all probability he was. just not for me.

I backed dunguib and his profile was nothing like MM. Good luck with your bet Mac but just cant have him. There is nearly always a hype Irish horse from a small yard for this race and MM looks like it this year. He has way too many negatives to justify his current price. If you are on at 25s plus fair enough.

That’s fair enough. I like reading your opinions but can’t always agree with them obviously

Dunguibs profile is very like MM…FP see IM…he is my choice

So Binocular was supposed to head straight to Cheltenham for the Champion Hurdle, we were told yesterday.

But Nicky has entered him in the Kingwell where he could take on Granduoet and Celestial Halo.

I cant have that. Dunguib was runner up to Onraglanroad in april, the winner exchange hands for over 250k or something like that. Dunguib did not reappear until november and then ran again in december. The form in those races was heads and shoulders above what any other Irish horse had obtained going into festival. Everyone knew he was a monster and hence the huge gamble on the day.

MM has achieved nothing comparable in form to what dunguib had achieved going to that year’s festival.

As I said to KC, I will be happy to be proved wrong. It would be pretty boring place if we all held the same views

RPR and Topspeed disagree with you, in the last 8 years only Dunguib had a better RPR going into the bumper, he is not as good as Dunguib, but he has standout form and speed and simply cannot be discounted

KC,
Speed ratings in bumpers and irish bumpers in particular mean fuck all as races are notoriously run at a crawl.

yeah, probably, but the high RPR ratings stack up and are corroborated wrt the results…

I had a look and it seems to me they are rating him through morning royalty, it just maybe that the latter was flattered by previous ratings? I would be surprised if he goes to cheltenham and i remember an interview with Willie Mullins stating that he would much prefer better ground.

come on fp. he’s won 3 good bumpers on varying gnd conditions. no reason to discount him …

gal bumper was poor…but shows he acts on good…

talking about mr not mm above

KC,
I would not have profiled him if I thought he was a no hoper. I still dont think he will be placed but will be happy to be proved wrong. I would guess that mac may have backed him at a decent price but I could not touch him at current odds.

I’ve small money on him at 25’s e/w but I suppose I would struggle to back him heavily at current prices until the day of the race itself. Backed him for the champion bumper as he was too short for that race in Gowran so it was a bet to nothing either way. I wouldn’t be as vocal with my support as KC would but I still give him a better chance than you do. Saying that, I’ll admit to not looking at a whole lot else in the race as it’s pointless until you know what will line up on the day.

Only realised it’s exactly 4 weeks till the start of the greatest show on earth

interesting trend no 1 - no feltham winner has ever won the RSA
