They generally don’t at senior level, or you at least need to have one man as the clear top dog even if they’re technically equal.

Art McRory was clear top dog when he managed with Eugene McKenna with Tyrone, Brian Canavan was the clear top dog when he was joint manager of Armagh with Brian McAlinden.

Adrian McGuckin packed it in after a year of being joint Derry manager with Eamon Coleman because it was obvious Coleman was the dominant force, unsuprisingly as a former All-Ireland-winning manager on his own.

Fr. Gerard McAleer had almost equal status with Mickey Harte with Tyrone in the early days but it soon became clear it was Harte who was running the show.

Clare have a problem in that three men think they’re top dogs on the sideline. I’d bet it was Cusack who made the call on Kelly.
