I think he needs to clear out his extensive backroom, get a shrude tactical thinker on board, and cast his net wider, but as a person and a general manager he has been excellent.

He needs to clone Joe.

Mayos streak over Galway ends after one game.

It’s 1-1 in the trilogy, all to play for down in Limerick. Lee Keegan has had a miracle cure I see. In fact all the shocking injuries the Mayo lads had seemed to have magically heled just in time for the match. Who would have thunk it?

Keegan playing??

Named on the subs

Sign of desperation I’d say rather than mind games. Keegan isn’t fit.

You’re an awful hoooore.

Disappointing that Walsh should have his reign ended with a defeat to Mayo after he done so much to get Galway back to their rightful place in Connacht over the last few years. But it’s certainly time for him to go, and for all excuses to be removed for the players underperforming.
Rochford would be an ideal candidate for the job as it would help solve the Corofin problem, which is the view that loads of them should be on the team despite them not being up to intercounty football.

KW picked them up from a dark place and made us a proper Div 1 team again, winning provincials and getting us back to a league final and all ireland semi. He brought us up to speed with a lot of the less than pretty requirements of the modern game and that should stand to this team. Although it was clear this year that KW had little else to offer in devoping the side he walks away with credit having brought us forward and withing shooting range of a genuine shot at the title. There is talent there no question, whoever does take over has a lot of the donkey work done for him whatever else

You surely dont believe that?:grinning:. Walsh turned his back on all our traditional football to ape that ulster shite they don’t even play up there anymore. Funnily enough his system beat mayo the last number of years and instead of using it again tonight he changed it against the one team it worked against. You couldn’t make it up, it would be funny if it wasn’t so tragic. There’s the basis of a very good team there minus some gormless tactically inept clown like Walsh at the helm.

Wasn’t too despondent at the end, expected Mayo to be up for this and they were. Second half was encouraging, good effort and fight all over the field, and some good scores. Comer nowhere near 100% but forced Mayo into more defensive setup and Galway started to win a lot of possession. Pity about the penalty as it would have made for a very interesting finish.

It’s a young team, average age 24, hope springs eternal.

Could be a better team playing a WAY better brand of football with a new man at the helm.

You would hope so. They need to get smarter and more cynical as well, they are constantly falling into traps and giving away fouls. There’s a fair bit of physical strength in the side if they played more direct. Frustrating for the likes of Shane Walsh who just ends up constantly fouled as the buildup is too slow.

The second Mayo goal was a thing of beauty, Galway defenders were slow to see the danger but the acceleration was impressive.
