I am friendly with a couple of lads from Toome and they are as sound a men you could meet, except when it comes to the GAA, where they seem to lose the run of themselves…

Did Benny get his ban yet or is he still hurling away?
UpperChurch and Drom/Inch won as well.

Laois Senior Hurling Championships

Portlaoise are on course for the double still after defeating a game Castletown side yesterday. Clough Ballacolla await them in the final after defeating Ballinakill by 7 points.

Clough Ballacolla struggled a little with Ballinakill early on but once they got the two goals, they managed to pull away. They depend an awrful lot on Willie Hyland, but they’ve some nice young hurlers there that will give the Town plenty of it.

Portlaoise march on, after railroading Castletown in the first half. I think they lead by 10 at half time, and were also 10 clear coming to the death. Castletown rallied after they had a man sent off, and got it back to 3 points after a David Cuddy goal, but Portlaoise were deserving winners.

So Portlaoise look like they’re on for the double, an impressive achievement considering the turmoil they’ve had this year.

The SFC semi finals are up this weekend, with all eyes being on the clash between Arles Killeen and Arles Kilcruise. Portlaoise will be expected to tear St Josephs a new one in the other semi final.

Cork Update:

Clonakilty are County champions. They nearly blew it, with a little help from the ref, but held out in the end. The younger Barrs came at them strong in last 12-13 minutes and went from 1-12 to 0-07 down to level with time nearly up. Clon won a free 50 yards out and an 18 year old on as a sub put it over. Clon played some fantastic football for 3/4’s of the game, and will be a threat to anyone in Munster. Barrs will come again, no doubt. They played the occassion this time, but they really have a fine young team with planty heart.
The only Cork player Michael Shields had a fine game at full and centre back.

Premier Intermediate favourites Valley Rovers are in dire trouble after a week of disasters. They are playing Glanmire in next weeks semi final and have lost in last few days Tadgh Burke their captain, Chris Donovan (Cork Junior captain) with a broken elbow, Eamon Collins their star full forward got sent off yesterday for punching the Ballinora full back in a league game and Alan Quirke their Cork Senior keeper who’s on honeymoon. They are fucked basically. I’d say the odds will still be good on Glanmire so i’m going to head down to Cashmans in a while and see the story, they are usually slow enough with these things.

Sars won handy in the Senior Hurling semi final. One noteable thing was Adrian Mannix from Kilworth scoring 15 points for CIT, 0-07 from play. Thats good going in fairness.

By all accounts Turrenes Castlemartyr will get an awful trouncing from Nemo in the hurling. The standard of hurling between themselves and the Glen yesterday was a good bit about Junior A, we’ll see. I’d rather Nemo got hammered by Castlemartyr, but can’t see it happening.

Glengarriff caused a midl surprise in JAF County by drawing with hot favourites Glanworth.

Jesus the Cork county board really gave 2 fingers to your ladies football team yesterday. What was that about?

They been told (by Cork club delegates) that they should run their ship a little bit more like the women. Its pure and utter bitterness.
The women run their competitions better, of that there is no doubt.

Someone in Cork needs to pull that rough lookin dickhead the fanny football captain(Mary O Connor is it?) aside and tell her that theres a huge difference between winning 4 All Ireland hurling titles in a row and winning 5 glorified tiddlywinks championships in succesion, she had something to say on every subject the clown, anyone got a clip of it they could throw up?

“Kilkinny hurlaers, ill see your 4 and raise you 1” shut the fuck up you moron.

Down Dise way, utter cunts Ballygunner* accounted for other cunts MtSion** by 4 in Walsh Park. Reeling in the years performance from Paul Flynn.

Lismore acounted for Ballyfuff Upper in comfortable fashion and would like to see them now go on and lift the title. Maurice Shanahan is getting better and detter.

*My disdain for the Ballygunner cunts arises from their treatmet of Mullane last weak and the poxy square ball goal to win the match. Cunts.

**I have always hated Mt Sion

Lismore are favourites for the Final are they HB?,twould be good to see it stay out of familiar hands anyway for the sake of Waterford hurling,i saw Ballygunner twice this Year and they only looked average.

we should have bet ballygunner the first day with 14men, and were 4 points up in Extra time the second day minus Mullane. Lismore should account for them.

Still though, the familiar hands thing is no more with DLS and Ballyduff winning the last two.

B’gunner have a few very nive young lads and will bea force agin in about 2-3 years, but Lismore need to win one, came close a few times in the last 10 years, but always froze against Ballygunner. Hopefully it wont happen to them again.

When is the draw in KK Link. Loughlins are the only ones who have a prayer of putting it up to the Shamrocks but are not going well. Kilkenny championship has been very poor this year from what I have seen. Village minus Larkin and Jackie are a poor intermediate team and are still about 3rd best. By all accounts I am hearing the top 4 Interteams are better by a fair bit that the bottom 4 from the senior championship.

The draws are tonight at the Co.Board meeting at 8pm,O Loughlins should be the only team in with a shout but they were very poor in the 2nd half against Dunnamaggin on Saturday,to hurl with the Shamrocks they’d need to be ten times sharper,my lot are playing Conahy Shamrocks at the weekend in the intermediate 1/4 final, hopefully we can beat them and get to a semi final anyway,i couldnt take another Year of underachieving in the championship.
