Club Championships 2009

I was away last month what happened in the croabh/crokes match? Im guessing there was a bit of argy bargy.

Really cant see anyone outside of those 4 teams getting to the semi’s

It was on in NCW where there is no seats

Obviously you were only taking the piss but the fact that you didn’t know that says alot about you. Ballysteen were beaten by the better team but a great year for them to get this far after only coming up from intermediate last year

Kilmoyley won the Kerry SH final at a canter in front of a large crowd. Did the double on the day aswell with their minors winning

I’m fully aware there are no seats in NCW Julio, i was using the words “seats” as a metaphor…

You , if your even from there, are clearly the biggest bullshitter in Limerick.

As a metaphor for what

Someone tell him please…

Someone tell him please…
No you tell him ya spoofer.

Someone tell him please…
I dont think you know what it means

As a metaphor for our positioning in the stand of course. We had a great view of the game. We stood for the most part but then at half-time we sat down and had a grand chat.

Hope that clears it up guys…

That was the best you could come up with? Poor at best

Just telling you the truth Julio, sure that’s all anyone can do. If you don’t believe me i won’t lose sleep over it, Puke knows the score…

Here’s a definition for you dunph, just for future reference as to what a metaphor actually is.

Metaphors are comparisons that show how two things that are not alike in most ways are similar in one important way, metaphors state that something is something else.

Laois Senior Football Championship

Semi final time this weekend, and while Portlaoise will be expected to stroll through their meeting with the fading force that is St Josephs, all eyes will be on O Moore Park on Saturday as the Village do battle.

Arles Killeen v Arles Kilcruise
As Tipptops has posted in another thread, fuck your Munster v Leinster, Bohs v Rovers, Rangers v Celtic, Garryowen v Shannon, this is the big showdown in a weekend of showdowns. The hatred between these clubs is shockingly bitter, and whats more, its recent. Click here for an article that might help explain the whole situation, but remember thats from the Kilcruise point of view. Both sides are equally bitter, but Killeen are the ones who dont have a SFC and fuckin hell do they want one, badly. So badly that they’d even buy it, if you were to believe the rumours.

There’s Limerick interest in this one too, with Diarmuid Carroll lining out for Kilcruise at centre back. Kilcruise will depend on Munnelly and the two Conways for their scores, and Kevin Meaney to win the midfield battle. At the back Paudge Conway will soldier away tirelessly as always.

For Killeen, its their forward line that always grabs the eye. Donie Brennan, Donie Kingston, Jason Enright, Brian Beano McDonald are all dangermen and will keep any backline busy. Kingston may be sacrificed to play midfield as has happened in recent matches, but he’ll still need watching. Where Killeen fall down is their backline, where impressive keeper Mick Leigh keeps them in games on his own at times. The loss of Shane Julian to a hamstring niggle all year hasn’t helped either and at times Paul McDonald is fighting fires all over the backline on his own.

This one will be epic, I expect it to need another day out to find a winner. If pushed, I’d go with Kilcruise, but expect cards, lots of cards.

Portlaoise v St Josephs
The forgotten semi final, which is ironic because its contains unbackable favourites Portlaoise. I’m not sure theres much point going into too much detail on this one, the only way Portlaoise could lose it is if they toss it away themselves, and this Portlaoise side isn’t in the habit of doing that. Last time out Zach Tuohy (whos off to Oz in a few weeks) scored 1-10 from centre half forward. Throw Cahir Healy, Tommy Fitzgerald, Aidan Fennelly Bruno McCormack, Brian Mulligan, Kevin Fitzpatrick, Peter McNulty, Brian Glynn, Kieran Lillis, Paul Cahillane, and Brian Smith into the mix, well there’s just not much out there to stop them really.

On the other side is a St Josephs side being carried along on the hobbling legs of Joe Higgins, Noel Garvan and Tom Kelly. Shorn of ther services of umpteen big names like Colm and Steven Kelly its hard to see how they could overturn the Town. With a full deck, it could have been possible, but their form over the season so far wouldn’t encourage you to put any money on the big odds that will be offered on Joes rolling back the clock this Sunday.

Portlaoise by 5 plus.

That whole Arles thing sounds epic, not too dis-similar from my own club.

Runty, I see the Clare People weren’t too impressed with rintintin at the weekend…

Neither were the rest of the team, a bad slip up for the 3rd goal apparently.
Heard the ref rode us though.
