Club Championships 2010

Gobshites.

Very petty behaviour.
I must go root out my rule book and see what the penalties are for fielding an extra player. They could end up in more trouble by appealing.

Brilliant. So, Askeaton are West Junior A hurling champions and you will attend the coursing with MAD on Saturday. Everyone’s a winner…

I can confirm that Kierans spelt one of their player’s names in English on their submitted team sheet. This has opened a can of worms. Their secretary could get a year for this.

No, they are appealing, so the final most likely won’t go ahead until the appeal is heard, but yes it may now open the way for me to go coursing Saturday.

Horrible horrible news coming out of Portlaoise today. Portlaoise and Laois footballer Peter McNulty, (All Ireland Minor winner in 2003 and Leinster U21 Football winning captain of 2006 not to mention a multitude of honours with Portlaoise) died today.

Thats terrible, god help his family

Laois GAA was plunged into mourning yesterday after the sudden death of Portlaoise club and county star Peter McNulty, who was due to play against Stradbally today in the Senior Football Championship semi-final. The match has been cancelled as a mark of respect.

Mr McNulty, who was in his 20s, was a native of Summerhill, Portlaoise and a stalwart of the club, which has won a record 26 Laois Senior Football Championships.

He was last seen at the club grounds, Pairc Ui Fhaolain, on Thursday evening for a squad training session. He was found dead at home yesterday. A post-mortem will be carried out.

Peter McNulty was regarded as one of the club’s finest players. A stylish corner-forward, he scored the final point in Portlaoise’s quarter-final win against Crettyard. Two years ago he scored 1-3 in Portlaoise’s 2-14 to 1-7 victory over Timahoe in the final of the senior championship in O’Moore Park.

RIP Chicken. :frowning:

Cloguhduv 1-11 Castlemartyr 0-12 FT.

Shite!

John Lockes did beat Piltown in the Kk southern final though. Don’t have the details yet but Callan into another county final

Heard Kilmallock won the Limerick final today…Was it any good, who stood out

John Lockes 3-08 Piltown 0-12

Callan were deserving winners after scoring 3 goals in the first twenty minutes of the match, went in 3-05 to 0-04 ahead at half time,Piltown struck 5 or 6 bad wides in the first half.Callan were never in much trouble in the second half but didnt hurl well as a team either.Yer two Co Minors were excellent along with J O Neill,Matty Holohan and Michael Hartley.

Yer going to be favourites for the final no matter who wins the North final between Barrow Rangers and Ballyragget,Callan are strong around the field but id reckon yed have to hurl far better than todays performance to win it out, still yer there, ill be up for the South in the final.

GwandeLockes. Probably be three weeks from now as the Northern half is behind as usual.
Clean bill of health for the panel this year. God willing the lads will go all the way this year.

The Rower had their annual choke yet this year?

Dunno if it was a choke or not but they went out at the quarter final stage two weeks ago to Mullinavat who won their semi yesterday and now face the softest of the city teams in the final.

St. Finbarrs beat Ballincollig last night in a dour game, they are trough to semi final now against either Carbery Rangers or Douglas in the Senior football. The other semi final is Clon versus Nemo. Fair to say the best 5 teams are still there.

The Senior hurling final will be Glen Rovers versus Sarsfields. The Glen were actually thrown out of this competition at one stage, also lost a game by 19 points and are now back in the final, it would be a remarkable win. They had 3 replays as well.

The Intermediate hurling final will be Kilbrittan (hard luck bando, Kilworth lost yesterday) against Ballygarvan, the Premier will be Ballymartyle against Tracton. 2 excellent games expected there.

The Premier football is still wide open, and too many teams left to get into it, the standard was shocking this weekend though, Newcestown and Vincents are probably favourites this year. The ordinary Intermediate is between Kildorrery and Macroom, i expect it to be a belter. Saw KD at weekend and was very impressed with them, they are a big strong mobile team, but so are Macroom. There is absolutely nothing between the 2 Intermediate grades now, its looking a little pointless now. Macroom and KD would rattle alot of Senior teams.

The Junior hurling final is Meelin against Clough Duv, would love to see Meelin do it.

The football is a bit of a farce, Tracton put out their Junior B team on saturday for the semi final against Mitchelstown, so none of the hurlers would get hurt for next week. A disgrace if you ask me, but the thing was they only lost by a point. Kanturk should beat Lyre in the Duhallow final, and then play Cloyne in semi final. Paudi Sullivan against Aidan Walsh would be interesting, Paudi is causing a bit of a stir with his performances with the big ball.

Hurled fierce well v Mullinavat in the quarter final, beaten by three points in a good game, probably should have won,our cause wasnt helped by not being awarded a goal in the dying minutes despite the ball being a yard over the line according to many neutrals,we gave Mullinavat a far harder game than they got Yesterday,Rower/Inistioge will win the 2011 Kilkenny Intermediate Championship,we’re improving all the time id reckon.

The losers of Fenians and Freshford will bounce straight back up I’d say.
Certainly Freshford. They have some great young forwards.

Thats an easy assumption to make,Frsehford were very very little better than a few other teams in intermediate last Year, having seen them play our fellas at underage level in the past two Years or so they dont have anything better than we do coming through either, who the fuck are the Fenians while we’re at it?,they havent won an underage Championship in Years.

Really , a yard? gowayouttathat.
