Camross are champions in Laois, dogged cute fuckers beat out surprise package Clough Ballacolla in the final. Picky’less CB have picked up a few titles in past decade but were average early on in Cship and picked up momentum to make the final. But Camross hit them for an early goal and CB never fully recovered.

Kerry hurling championship finalists decided yesterday.

Lixnaw beat Ardfert by two after over turning a 4 point deficit late in the second half. Ardfert had a man sent off after a word from the umpire. The umpire was the only one who saw the incident, no one else at the game had a clue what it was for including the players involved. Ardfert went mental and completely lost the heads and it cost them ultimately. He also blew it up at least two minutes early and had to be escorted from the field afterwards to a cacophony of boo’s and insults.

In the other semi final Kilmoyley’s quest for 3 in a row was stopped by Ballyduff, in a very physical scrappy game. Kilmoyley were 6 up at half time with a slight breeze at their backs but they never came out in the second half and Ballyduff just had that extra bit of “hunger” and ran out well deserved winners by 4 in the end.

Kilmoyley’s win last year tied them with B’duff at 24 all in the championships scoreboard so the Duffers will be out to regain their title as Kerry’s no. 1 again, but Lixnaw will give them plenty of it. Both Lixnaw & Kilmoyley having come through the winners side were coming off the back of unnecessarily long breaks since their last game, 7 weeks I think in the case of Lixnaw. So they’ll be a lot sharper the next day out I’d imagine. Should be a cracker.

I didn’t see much of the lixnaw match but the duffers looked very physical and will be hard for anyone to handle. They’ve also plenty more to get out of a few of their bigger names. I’d tentatively give them the nod.

Trillick defeated Coalisland by 1-12 to 0-12 in tonight’s replay, Lee Brennan with 1-08, (1-02 from play). They will now face Omagh in the semi-final on Saturday.

Bit of a furore in Offaly over last minute semi final goal as Clara knocked out Ferbane.

Ferbane were two points up with time just about up. Seemngly they conceded a free on their own 45m line. One of the players gave the ref a bit of lip. He picked up the ball and placed it on the groung 13m further in. He kept running. Behind the ref’s back the Clara midfielder picked up the ball, ran another 8-10m with it in his hand before proceeeding to bury it from about the 21. Ref didn’t see the shot but awarded the goal. Clara win the match and proceed to play Rhode in the county final.
